We are frequent RC cruisers. We very much enjoyed the Baltic Cruise. My only criticism would be the Dining Room food has dropped in it's quality. The Specialty Restaurants are delightful! Service and food exceptional. Unfortunately, most people do not feel the need to pay for better food. Overall service on the ship is wonderful. I highly recommend Royal Caribbean.

RC could do better. To charge a fee in not so special restaurants aboard is nickel and diming. The overall maintenance was minimal as the balcony woodwork needed attention. Staterooms a bit scimpy as well as balcony space. The card room needs attention and someone to manage the care of the board games as well as the card packs. Excursion costs much higher than if purchased off ship. A good second choice, but look at competitors first.

Would definitely recommend the helicopter trip to the glacier. Had lived in Alaska years ago but it was worth a trip back to see the amazing scenery again.

The staff aboard the Navigator of the seas was rude upon arrival at the Port of Galveston. We had not recieved any communication that our boat had reached port late, and when we arrived at the port, the first woman we came into contact with wearing Royal Caribbean attire argued and yelled at my group. That should have told us something about what we were to expect aboard the Navigator of the Seas. Although, we had 5 employees that treated us with the most respect, and made our journey a fun one, the vast majority of the crew aboard this ship didnt care that we were aboard at all. I understand that it was a very busy week, but that shouldnt have changed how we were treated aboard the ship. Norweigan has proved to us to be a much better cruise line, and I will go with them from now on, rather than giving Royal Caribbean another chance.

First, the  port of Bayone was a nightmare.  We were in a traffic jam for over 45 minutes  once we reached the port.  Check in went fairly well.  The cruise went well  . I found Royal Carribean to be bare bones compaired to other lines I have been on.  No amenities at all, not a pen hand cream or even a 10 cent shower cap to be found. I asked for a small pillow :"we have none" I was told.  The room was clean,  Windjammer Cafe crowded and we found part of a katsup packet and a bristle in our food . Also returned food that was not fit to eat. no one ever contacted us to apoligize. ,  Leaving the ship was another horror. 45 minutes on the staircase on the ship and another hour for  our driver to reach us.  The only reason I would travel this line again is if it the only ship going somewhere I really wanted  to go.

Having been a fan of smaller ships, I was a little concerned when I decided to book this trip on a larger ship. There was really no cause for concern. There were no long lines--there are plenty of venues to handle all the people. The shows were spectacular. The drink packages made it easy to have the refreshments I wanted when I wanted. The cabin was spacious and had lots of storage (not always the case on many ships). Overall, I was very pleased with the experience.

Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas was a lovely ship with many activities offered. The shows were excellent and the food was good. Little things have changes as the company seems to be cutting some corners. They, for example, stop leaving chocolate candies on the pillows. This is a small thing, but one we missed. There seemed to be a bigger push by employees to up sale items. The staff were pleasant, but seemed a bit stretched. I would travel with Royal again, but hope more and more of the "cruse experience" extras are not lost as they try to make more money.

Blindsided on the gratuities

By: sdiver43

Reviewed on: 25 May 2016

When I checked in online, the gratuity was 12.95/person/day. no problem, I expect that and I've paid it before. However, when we boarded the ship, the gratuity had increased to $13.50/day. I don't object to them raising the rate, and I don't object to the extra 55 cents. My objection is that they said one thing and then changed it without notification. That's just petty. I visited the Guest Services desk and had the gratuity removed from my bill. Then I gave cash to my cabin attendant and dining table staff in the equivalent amount I would have paid at 12.95/day. This is the third year I've cruised with RCCL and the menu in the dining room, while delicious, hasn't changed. Also, the singing waiters on the last evening are just downright annoying. Other than that, the cruise was great. The RCCL staff is unfailingly friendly and polite. We really enjoyed the cruise!

Horrible Experience

By: Tinkerbell

Reviewed on: 09 Mar 2017

This ship does not meet Royal Caribbean standards. Honestly I felt like I was on a cruise where the staff was being trained on the job. Apparently the ship was suppose to go to dry dock which I believe it did but apparently due to Hurricane Matthew supplies needed for repairs didn't arrive, so not all repairs were done. Now they are doing repairs while the ship is cruising. Our group had toilet issues in our staterooms and we were told 50 staterooms were affected by this. We were given various excuses of why the problems were happening. We met some people getting off the ship that had plumbing problems last year on this ship and they were given a 50% off another cruise so they decided to give this one a try again since it was going to dry docked to be repaired. They were quite disappointed when they had plumbing problems again. This apparently has been going on for some time now, and the company needs to stop lying to customers and get it fixed correctly.

With only one exception the food in the dining rooms was good and presented well. Our junior suite was just what we needed and the cabin steward provided excellent service. We would rate the service by most employees as above average, and most employees were helpful when you needed answers to questions or directions. The pre-cruise check-in process was easy, and the embark and debark and airport transfer process went smoothly. Generally pretty good. Food was excellent. Staff was always helpful, smiling, and friendly. The ship was clean and in good repair. I did think too many on-board activities were fee based with limited options for free time. This was a cool weather cruise so many of the open deck activities were not very comfortable. The process for leaving the ship and connecting with excursions tended to be chaotic and confusing. Definitely could use improvement. Compared to 9 other cruises we have taken, this was the worse. Timing was unfortunate. Fall was late this year and there was very little color change. Can't fault the Cruise line for not knowing over a year in advance when the color would peak.

Generally our experience was positive, but the biggest exception to that was the lack of access to drinking water. There were very few places to get a glass of water. The bartenders were extremely reluctant to bring you a glass of water unless you were also buying drinks. Even if you bought drinks they still did not bring you water most times. It is obvious Royal Caribbean has made even drinking water a profit center via their bottled water packages. Another complaint was the frequent interruption of our relaxation by staff trying to sell us packages to the paying restaurants. It was like getting telemarketing calls while at home. These things left us with the impression that Royal Caribbean's focus has shifted to profit from add ons as opposed to their customers having an outstanding vacation experience. We have been loyal Royal Caribbean customers in the past, but we will now be looking at other cruise lines for future cruises.

Service was excellent. Only suggestion, have dance music on in the night club after 9 or 10. One night there was great music with a DJ and everyone was dancing, it was a great vibe. However, the other nights they were playing recorded ballroom music until 11:30 or so, it was very bright and encouraged us to go to sleep early.

Wasn't the worst or best experience

The ship was well taken care of and very nice. In comparison with Norwegian, we felt the Norwegian crew was much happier and much more customer friendly. Our friends had an experience on the RC cruise where they were "accused" of providing some other woman's drink card to a bartender. The situation was resolved when the bartender found he had given back the wrong card. There was no apology or any attempt to make it right. My husband had a similar experience with a Guest Services attendant who told him it was his cell service and that the ship was having Internet problems. The next day another attendant helped him with the same situation and was a little shocked to hear the staff said it was the ships Internet problems.

The beds are hard and uncomfortable, the menus change only slightly in the main dining room, the food was not as good as we are used to on other cruise lines - eg. one night I ordered a puff pastry stew - the puff pastry was about 9 inches wide and looked like a frisbee and it sat on top of a combo of peas, corn and mushrooms with a tasteless gravy. Every night the ice cream was a choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry and when I did order it one night it tasted like it had freezer burn. The steaks were generally tough. The itinerary was changed so we had to go through border clearance twice and the lineups were hours long. Disembarkation for tours were chaotic. No lotion was provided in the rooms and you could not buy it on the ship. Our room was clean when we boarded but our friend's room was dirty. We love to play trivia but the room where it was held was very small and it was hard to ever find a seat.

The stewards for the cabins and restaurants were excellent!! I found that they very disorganized in giving clear directions as to the shore excursions (eg. where we were to disembark etc. If you asked one crew member they gave different directions then another. Finally we had to ask guests to know where we had to meet.). They need to give clear directions and place them in your room the night before. Also, the food was so so. I was expecting better quality meats than provided. (Often the fish and chicken was dry. The steak strips were tough and chewy.). But did love their buns!!! And finally was upset with the large line up to get a taxi after disembarking at the end of the cruise. We waited nearly two hours standing in line in the damp and cold. Many people were very upset!! Could they not have let groups go off the ship at intervals so the wait time would have been less. It is hard on the elderly and those with health issues.

The cabin was not prepared for 5 guests and I had to ask for bedding, towels and drinking glass (which I never got the entire trip), when booking this trip at the next cruise office we were assured that this cabin would comfortably accommodate 6 people, my husband died before we could take the trip and I continued to go on the trip. The bed provided was too small for me (how two people would share it was a mystery to me) I am 6feet tall...eventually a single bed was brought in for me...having enough towels was an issue...we all like a fresh towel to shower with and we had to share a drinking glass for us to drink water with our meds. Paying the extra money for a suite was just NOT worth it.

Goldilocks-sized ship, not too big, not too small!

By: Theresa

We had sailed on many ships on Royal Caribbean and the Adventure of the Seas is one of our favorites. It's just the right size so you're not walking for 10 minutes just to get from one end to the other. But it's not too small where you feel like you're missing out. It has every amenity that the larger class ships have. But best of all, it's not super crowded! There weren't too many bodies in the hot tubs and there was never the announcement in Windjammer where they say something like, "When you are done, please enjoy other parts of the ship so that other guests can have a seat." Because of this, I felt the service was phenomenal because they can devote their attention to you! The only amenity I noticed that they didn't have was Royal Tots for the babies, so if you're traveling with kids under age 3 and need babysitting, this may not be the ship for you. (They still have Adventure Ocean for kids ages 3 and up, of course.) Other than that, two thumbs up from us!

-small ship - easy to find your way around - never was unable to find a place to sit - I think it helped that it was while school were in so there were only 4 children on the entire boat - so the person to chair ratio was good - also helped that there were so many handicapped folks on scooters that have their own chair - had a lot of adult events happening - temperatures were pleasant - I would say 71ish Farienheit - could only hear music if near the music - did not get into rooms - acts were very good and we really enjoyed the shows - I skipped a few on my last cruise - 7pm show was jammed - but if there by 630 no issues with seat - 915pm not full due to age of passengers - so possible to watch shows you really like twice - windjammer (buffet) was awesome - food was hot and plentiful - had much more variety than last cruise on a larger boat - had themed evenings so the fare was completely different each night - had a carved meat and a steak and potatoe buffet

Adventure of the Seas is in bad need for some upgrades. The food choices in the Windjammer were lacking and this needs to be addressed. Very few choices at salad bar, meats and vegetables. The best thing was the crew—always attentive and going above and beyond to be helpful.

Ports of call nice did not stop coco cay weather related. Ship shows its wear, staff not happy and difficult to get answers. Except for stateroom attendant. 2 of 4 elevators were not working as we sailed that was a issue for all. Windjammer food not same caliber as larger ships lots of beverage station out of order, windows never cleaned and unable to see anything through them . beautiful ports hattii was very secure with no issues and absolutely beautiful. All in all was ok will want to cruise on larger class ship again for next time.

This was my 2 experience on a cruise ship and needless to say the first 2 days were tough due to high winds but the captain was good at giving updates on weather conditions as well as reassurance of safety. All the staff were over accommodating and welcoming not to mention friendliest people I’ve met. At the end of our cruise saying goodbye was like saying goodbye to new friends. Would definitely recommend this trip to others.

I had a great time aboard the Adventure of the Seas. The food and dining room waiters (Arun and Kadek) were exceptional. I enjoyed the entertainment and was very impressed by the talent of the band and other performers. I also enjoyed the trivia and name that tune games, Giovanni’s, and coming back to the cabin to find a towel animal.

    Our Commitment

Royal Caribbean is committed to protecting the communities and oceans in which we operate. Royal Caribbean and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) have a five-year global partnership to conserve the world’s oceans. Our 2020 environmental goals set ambitious and measurable sustainability targets in three key areas: Emission Reduction, Sustainable Sourcing, and Destination Stewardship. We design to build the most efficient ship possible by reducing energy consumption in both marine and hotel operations: advanced emissions purification (AEP) systems and air lubrication systems. Energy-reducing hotel operations: energy-efficient equipment in galleys, replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lighting, card-activated stateroom lights, and AC that shuts off automatically when the veranda doors are open. Our advanced wastewater purification systems are designed to be twice as stringent as U.S. federal standards. Whenever possible the waste on our ships is reused, recycled or converted to energy.
