We had 12 family members in 6 state rooms in the Haven section of the ship. The members ranged in age from 18 to 81 years old. The staff was very friendly and responsive to all requests from my family. The only problem we had was with the depth of the bathtub in the state room. My wife who has mobility issues could not use the bathtub and had to use the showers in the ships sauna.

I got food poisoning on day 3 and was sick in my cabin for 2 full days. The beds were very uncomfortable. The wifi package was very expensive, and I kept getting bumped off of it. Had to seep signing back in every 5 minutes. There is nothing to watch on tv, unless you buy movies. For the price of this cruise, they keep wanting you to spend more! And the shampoo, body wash and hand soap were all the same soap. My hair was so dry and like straw by the time I got off the ship from washing it with their "shampoo". And there is no place to purchase any items you may need like personal hygiene, (shampoo!!) or stuff for food poisoning. No pepto bismol, ammodium AD, NOTHING! Just tylenol for $9!! And you aren't allowed to take any leftovers from the "specialty" dining back to your room. Eat it or throw it away. Such a waste!!

Studio Cabins

By: Sharilyn

Reviewed on: 22 Sep 2024

Hello! I wanted to offer some feedback on the Studio Cabins on some of NCLs ships. These are small cabins designed for one person and are actually a nice size for one. They are small, but organized so efficiently that I could put all my items away easily and the room continued to feel tidy and neat. I'm also a larger person and while the shower and toilet were small areas, they were ideal for one and without the sneaky 'solo supplements.'

The Bliss

By: Poozer

Reviewed on: 23 Jun 2018

Time aboard The Bliss was fun. Have been on two of the other big Norwegian boats before so had a good idea of what to expect. Only reason I picked it was the fact that we were ten people and four of them were children. I knew it would have lots of things to keep them busy and if they are busy everyone is happy. Ship itself is nice. Food in speciality restaurants (we ate in 6 of them) was okay but certainly not anything to brag about. Choices on the buffet were numerous but seating was not adequate. Finding a table was sometimes impossible. Entertainment other than Jersey Boys not great. Music around the ship was nothing special. Really missed Dueling Pianos from other Norwegian ships. We did not take shore excursions offered by ship. We used a private company. Would have liked to spend more time in Juneau and Vancouver. All in all family had a great time but I probably would not pick another Norwegian boat as an adult only trip.

The ads for the new ship looked amazing. Traveling with a party of 8 made up of 3 generations, our children and grandchildren were so looking forward to the car racing, the laser tag and the slide. They got to do none of them. By 3 pm on embarkation day, there was not a time slot available. My daughter stood in the guest services line for hours. These activities were only open several hours a day. Standing in line was of no avail. Same goes for the shows on board. If you did not sign up on line, some of us did, others didn't.. you didn't get in. Lines were long to wait for no shows. Oft times, you had to wait 10 minutes for an elevator with enough room to squeeze into. Although I had made advance reservations as the included restaurants, an additional 30 min or more wait was mandatory. The Specialty restaurants honored reservations and had much better staff. Staff throughout the ship was insufficient. Kudos to the Splash Academy! The kids loved it. That said, we all had fun.

The slide was fun too, but if you weren't heavy enough (this happened to several adults and one of my crew) you could get stuck. NCL Bliss Summer 2018

By: Platinum Pro Cruiser

Reviewed on: 02 Sep 2018

Nice layout improvements. Observation Deck at the sacrifice of stateroom balconies was a smart move by NCL. This was the most necessary ship deck plan adjustment made to meet cruisers needs. Garden Cafe moved to Forward ship another excellent improvement in deck plan. Gym and Spa have been moved to Aft ship which groups all physical activities mostly together making this a smart deck plan improvement. On a critique of Food and Specialty restaurants, we found the Specialty Dining slightly under quality from previous ships (Getaway and Escape) and the decore and atmosphere felt repetitive and generic, but Garden Cafe remained excellent. With only one way to enter the Garden Cafe, this help improved hand washing safety. Manhattan Main Dining food quality and menu choices improved considerably. But please remember these comments come from us as critical judges and assure you will still enjoy quite nicely.

The specialty dining was wonderful, the staff was very nice and the on and off board process was very streamlined and efficient. Any issues that we had, were resolved quickly. I would have liked more time in a few of the ports especially Ketchikan and Victoria. I hate the race to find a table at the enormous buffet. The dining room food was okay. One of the slides was closed, the other operated on crazy hours. The race cars were rarely available and you need to book way in advance. I would have rather had the basketball court back. The rooms were extremely small which made me crazy. In the end it was a nice trip because Alaska was absolutely charming and breathtaking and that’s what really counted.

Made it to Seattle; had to pull off the Alaskan cruise 2 days before sailing due to passing of my brother. I did not purchase the insurance. Since insurance sales are a big part of Norwegian's revenue they have to protect this service; at this point, I believe they are keeping all of the money I paid for the trip. It was never a question for me to cancel the trip, would give it up a millions times over to get my brother back. Would be nice if Norwegian had something in place for this other than an insurance racket. Reading other blogs, it appears Norwegian stand alone on issues like this. You'd think a company that thrives on repeat business would have something a little less harsh. The folks that work the phones for Norwegian were super helpful in canceling all of the excursions I had pre-planned. Still waiting to see if I will get refunded for pre-paid tips and shuttle fee to the airport. The airlines either refunded everything or re-booked my flights without extra charges.

The view from the observation lounge and buffet seating right above is wide and wonderful. This was great for the Panama Canal passage and it would be wonderful for Alaska as well.

It was enjoyable lot excising and dancing which we like this time, normally we are cruising we don’t dance much this time was very good because the cruise staff, but we wish the buffet can open a little bit longer, after we finished dancing at the pool’s desks we like something to eat but not too much, or we can take something back to the room to eat, so we can cool down, they do have a restaurant open but can not take out. Is a bit in convenience.

Customer service desk location

By: Water

Reviewed on: 10 Mar 2023

The location of the Customer Service desk was located next to the Atrium. The Atrium was used quite often for various venues and was loud; therefore, you could not hear the people at the desk, and they could not hear you. Another thing was that English was the second language of everyone working on the ship. Sometimes it was hard to communicate with them, say at the restaurants, to order something not on the menu. Everyone was charming and accommodating. There were not enough cabin stewards. On the bright side, the Broadway shows were excellent! The comedians they had were funny and clean! We went a few times! We did not go to the adult times. All the meals we had were delicious, especially the ? Cafe (buffet).

I absolutely loved this ship. Wylands artwork on the ship added extra charm and appeal. The observatory was one of my favorite places to read, lounge, play cards, have a snack or drink. It was a delightful area in the fwd area of the ship. The layout of the ship was easy to navigate. The staff was most friendly and accommodating. Zero complaints from me.

The staff was wonderful. The specialty restaurants were spot on. Entertainment was good and a variety to chose from. A lot of hidden costs especially for the youth activities. TOO many people 4000 plus 3 ports would have been enough as Ensenada does not have much to offer. Not sure if they were understaffed or the turn round time between trips were to short but the rooms were not fully cleaned. We found sandals from the previous trip in our room and arcade tickets in the other room. The day prior to our disembarkment the stewart informed us that rooms needed to be cleaned to pre ready the room for the next cruise. Would I travel Norwegian again perhaps but not on this floating city the Bliss

Ncl is great, especially for their solo cabin. I highly recommend them for that. Food is great and entertainment is spectacular. However, the ship is huge and with that many people you’re always standing in line and sometimes you have a hard time, finding a place to sit in the atrium and observation lounge. Except for all the crowds, it was perfect.

we were recently on the Norwegian Bliss to Alaska. I asked everyone what their favorite part of the cruise was and my youngest granddaughter said “kids club” and “whale watching”. The onboard activities were really fun and my competitive group managed to win a few of the games. Also gambling was a hit, some Monies were made! There were a lot of dining options, we managed to hit about half of them. Lots of bars and libations. Several of us also did a wine and chocolate pairing class which was fun.

We had a great time and had an overall positive experience. The ship was great, Food was good to great, state rooms were nice and service was great. I was somewhat disappointed with a couple of the excursions; however we had two that was really good. The shows and entertainment was really good and servers at the bars were so friendly and did a great job with trying to serve so many people.. My big complaint was the "Family Friendly Comedian Show" WAS NOT family friendly. We took my four grandchildren and was shocked at the jokes and language for something that was said to be family friendly. 5 minutes into the show, my 11 year old grandson looked at me and said, "So much for family friendly." Also my grandchildren did not like the Splash Academy and only went twice. Over all we had a great time and the service on the ship and the servers were wonderful. We loved seeing so many countries represented.

Be aware of port times

By: Anonymous in PA

Reviewed on: 12 Aug 2023

The ship was great and the food and entertainment quality was higher than RCCL in most cases. Our itinerary though had very short times in port. And then the ports were further away than the RCCL docks. So, on an already short time in port, you also had a 20-minute bus ride (plus wait in line, etc). That left us feeling like we were missing out. This was most noticeable in Ketchikan where the all aboard was 1:30 but the last shuttle from town was 11:45 am.

The NCL Bliss is a wonderful ship. Clean and fresh. Well laid out and we love traveling on her. Alaska was wonderful. We missed Juneau do to winds. Went to Skagway and into Glacier bay. Both are wonderful. When we got all the way into Glacier bay the captain put the ship in a slow spin and did a complete 360 so you could see EVERYTHING from wherever you were. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Then we went to Victoria BC. We barely got off the ship there. So I can’t give a review. We will do Alaska again!!

Disappointed Bliss

Fees for everything. Dirty dishes left in the state room’s hallway for several hours and overnight even when called about the dirty dishes. Charged way too much money for what you are served at the specialty restaurants. Not enough time to shop or look at the town’s if you were on an excursion. As we were in Skagway, I overheard a local that was a sales clerk tell another local that these people on the Bliss were some of the rudest and inconsiderate individuals. This poor young lady was almost in tears. Sadly, I had to agree.

Identity Crisis NCL Bliss

By: Don D

Reviewed on: 03 Feb 2024

The Bliss is showing its age and NCL cannot decide if it is a high quality cruise line or a low quality for the masses. NCL was selling constantly during our 15 days for art, spa services, future cruises, photos, and many other items. They made it hard to eat in the sit down restaurants. Lines were long and of course they were selling up charge dining. Ship was not designed for days at sea. Very difficult to find a place to read or play cards. We have used NCL for many years and are a Platinum traveler. It may be our last trip. The Spa was great and learning about and going through the Panama Canal was excellent. We used Tours by Locals in Panama. Cruise excursions were poorly designed and not worth the cost. I hope NCL figures their pricing and benefit proposition.

We liked the layout of the ship; deck 8 outside was spacious, comfortable. The observation lounge was also nice, kind of like a huge living room with bar and food. Biggest problem was the disembarkation; they leave the tags out for everyone to pick up, whatever time they want, and it looked like everyone was trying to get off at the same time - poor organization; need a better system .
