Not enough character space to write how bad excursions were. No value. Misleading info about trip. Food on ship poor & 8 of us had to eat at 5:30 or after 8:00 always. Could not accommodate at any other time.

This was our first cruise and first time to the Alaskan region. The cruise was terrific. The NCL crew was great, well trained, looked like they were having as much fun as the guests. We were amazed at the captains ability to navigate the fjords and turn the ship around in what seemed like a small space. We'll go on NCL again.

We really enjoyed the new port of Houston. The Jewell was a nice ship however the Garden Cafe was small and crowded. We did not enjoy our eating in this area. WE did use the specialty dining areas where we had to pay extra and enjoyed them. The main dining areas, Azura, Tzar were very nice and enjoyed them. Entertainment in the Starlight was very good. Ports of call were very good, especially Belize and Honduras. I was a little disappointed in the ships details. I am a detail person and was disappointed in seeing rust and unpainted areas. Little things that could be maintained with preventive maintenance crews that would should go around and paint and chip paint. For a 10 year old ship, it should have looked much nicer. We did buy a bar of soap at our first port because we do not like the liquid soaps that you have in the staterooms. Our stateroom, 10022, was rather cramped for a balcony room. On the other ships were roomier.

Ship was in excellent shape. Only issue patio cabins were much smaller than on other ships and cruise lines I have taken. Food was much improved over trip two years ago on same cruise line.

Solid "B" rating

The Jewel was clean and efficiently run, staff friendly, plentiful and courteous. The entertainment was also very good. Only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't enough seating in the Garden Buffet for the number of people who chose it. There also was not enough seating on the deck by the pool when there was a BBQ. It would be helpful if there was a security person on each floor by the elevators. There were teenage boys having a race in the staircase and it was dangerous. There was no one nearby to report that to or to stop them. Also, would be helpful to have ushers with flashlights in the Starlight theater.

Perfect Panama Canal Cruise

By: Newknees

Reviewed on: 25 Feb 2017

The cruise was perfect for us! Our mini-suite with balcony mid-ship, port side, provided the best views at all ports and especially great views as we passed through the Panama Canal! Service throughout the ship was excellent, and we selected shore excursions through the cruise line which were truly wonderful! Although the meals served in Tsar's Dining Room were fine, we enjoyed outstanding meals in Cagney's Steak House, Modorno's Brazilian-Styled Churrascaria, and Teppanyaki. Entertainment was wonderful, and we especially liked the Cirque Dreams Show, and the variety of comedians. We've been on several NCL cruises, but this one was by far one of the best!

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Jewel. The staff were wonderful, helpful and fun! The restaurants and lounges were great - the food was awesome. The shows and events in the Theatre were very entertaining and we had a great time. Cruise director Richard and Asst. Cruise director Leslie kept the place going and much fun was had by all.

I will definitely - Book another trip with Norwegian Cruise Line . Please note - I don not normally Cruise! (I get pretty bad motion sickness )- With that said , it was well worth it ! The countries visited were USA - Alaska , Russia , and Japan.... Trip of a Life Time.... Travelling , 19 Days on a ship - was like floating on a RESORT ... always something to do , see , eat and learn. I would recommend everyone TRY it at least, once in their lives.

We liked our South East Asia cruise. We chose it for the itinerary. We would rate the food as 7.5 out of 10. There was plenty of fresh food, and variety from which to choose. (We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants because we believed they didn’t warrant the extra cost.) We found the ship decor challenged. It has the look of having been retrofitted a number of times. (It’s currently in dry dock being retrofitted once again.) The service was excellent everywhere. The entertainment was o.k. We only went to a couple of the shows.
