Wonderful ship and crew, spotlessly clean. This was our first cruise so not sure how the free stylin food on the Epic compares to 'set' dining on other cruises. Seating was tight for the buffets on deck 15 - felt the crew could have controlled seating arrangments better. Food and retaurants were excellent, nice menu options and good food. The shore excursins were well run and well worth the cost.

first time on NCL......I was not aware that this was a larger ship....the food was excellent... hoping for a show every night,...but the most discouraging thing was that the travel agent, did not tell me about the ship board credit, ....having a budget issue, I always had a refundable credit..... I would not use her again...I would like to know which ship is smaller... the going on and coming off the ship was just wonderful...and of course my husband loved the free style.

Best in the West

The ship and crew are all well run. Considering the size of the ship - all things run smoothly. I was in Cabin 14145. The cabin was well appointed, but please, please do not put anyone in that room or rooms nearby. Overhead is the pool deck. At 6:30 each morning they started to drag pool chairs across the floor. This noise continued all day. Also the pool slide is near by. The heavier the person the louder the bang.

Great Ship!

By: TGlide

Great Ship! Great Ports! NCL Epic more than met our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised by this ship. Entertainment was great. The musical performers were stellar. Cirque Dreams was fantastic. Burn the Floor was very entertaining. The one exception was Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. We just did not care for it. Otherwise every show we saw was great. The food and service was exceptional. The perks we received with our package allowed us to experience 3 specialty restaurants. Moderno and Cagney's Steakhouse were fantastic. We also enjoyed O'Sheehans and appreciated that NCL had a dining experience like it. The only unfortunate thing we would've liked to have a little more time onboard to experience this ship's amenities. Our cabin steward, Brussel, was very nice & did a great job. One thing we did not like is that NCL now charges a service charge for room service. Because of this, we did not order room service & normally would have. Overall great experience.

OK, but not my cup of tea

Time on board was okay as we were traveling with friends. We used POSH, NCL's adults-only private outside lounge area. That was $70/pp/week extra, but worth it not to have to fight for a lounge chair. It was also quiet and had it's own bar; service was good. Speciality restaurants were good; main dining was ok, but not great. Ship is very large, but didn't seem overly crowded so that was good. Hated the buffet; finding a table was like finding a needle in a haystack! Ship was much too large for my taste.

Good for Families with Younger Children

It was a good trip considering we had all our children and grandchildren with us. Tons of activities for the younger set, which they really enjoyed. The ship had 5,000 people on it, which is more than my wife and I normally like on a ship. All of our kids and grands enjoyed it immensely, even though my wife and I prefer the Queen Mary.

Norwegian Epic: Good cruise: strange ship

By: Bob

Reviewed on: 05 Jan 2018

We did 7 day cruise out of Pt Canaveral over Christmas. Had a lot of fun. Food was best on NCL ship. Ships design is bizarre: cabin was small, commode on one side of door and shower on other, a lot of concealed storage, very dim lighting. Ships design meant you went through buffet resturant then down steep steps to reach French Resturant. No central elevators. Hard to access deck 5, main deck. Casino smoke permeated central part of ship. Jogging track was on one half of one deck. Extremely noisy. NCL advertises Freestyle cruising but almost everything, including Main restaurants, required or recommended reservations. Outstanding disembarkation. Not what we expected on an NCL ship. Would recommend for families with children/teens as there is a lot to do. Would not recommend if looking for a quiet cruise.

Disliked it very much....

By: Dawn

Reviewed on: 10 Mar 2018

Three other women for a girls' trip. Wechose this particular sailing. Disliked Epic for many reasons. Few outdoor areas for a QUIET drink/coffee. Outdoor areas are loud and crowded on sea days. On port days, we got lounge by pool area, but lounges are uncomfortable. Also, a guy about 3 lounges from me was smoking. No smoking allowed there, but no one said a word to him, even Officers walked past and said nothing. The cabins was AWFUL. The layout of the shower, toilet and sink areas are awful - very little, if any, privacy. Too small to pass another person at end of bed. Cabin attendant started off great for 3 days, then downhill. Although he brought ice/towels, room wasn't made up until mid-afternoon. Getting a drink at the bar was a joke. Atrium/common area used for games/trivia, etc, was really loud and not big enough, so you had to stand. Entertainment was EXCELLENT. Food was pretty good. Waitstaff not so good. Never on EPIC again.

Our family of 5 (2 parents and 3 young adult children) loved spending a week on the Norwegian Epic on this European cruise. The ports were amazing, especially the three in Italy, and we also loved every minute on the ship. It was so much fun to spend a great day in a wonderful European city and then come "home" to the Epic and be greeted by the friendly and very happy crew. The nights were spent enjoying amazing restaurants and other amenities. Our only regret was not having another "Day at Sea" on the Epic to enjoy more time on the ship.

Epic is ok, but far from Epic

By: Doc Holliday

Reviewed on: 12 Dec 2018

This is the second time being on the Epic, it is a great ship, but does have some issues. There are not enough deck chairs for all the guests and you have to fight for a chair if you do not get up early to get a chair. The room steward came to clean the room sometime between 10am & 4pm, and did not seem to have a consistent time to show up to clean & then the same for the night cleaning, sometime between 6pm-1030pm. There are not enough elevators on the ship and you always have to wait at least a minute or more for an elevator to arrive, and when it does sometimes it is already full of other passengers. Food was great though, and the drink package was a great addition to my trip. The EPIC Beatles, Beatles cover band on the ship are great, and worth seeing at least twice. For all the theater shows though, the staff needs to stop people from cutting in line for the shows, very annoying if you lined up for 30 min to go in to have people just cut and staff not stop them.

The ship was very nice but bathroom aout and design not private enough. The toliet area had a glass frosted sliding door and on the other side was the tub and shower. Had same type of sliding doors. However the sink was separate from everything and it was very small made for a bird bath. The design of those rooms need to be relooked at. The crew was nice.

Excursions off the ship were more than I dreamed. I was dreading the time without my husband, but was truly surprised to feel him with me. With this being such an Amazing 1st time Cruise, sets the bar for any others to follow. I have nothing but 5 stars for the Epic and Her Crew!!!

The ship was not made for travelers. Well this particular ship was not good. The adult pool section had a pool the size of a Hot tub so not very smart construction on their part. We had to wake up at 7am to secure a chair by the main pool or other sections in order to have a place to sit in the sun and if you were late nothing was available until 3 pm. The unlimited drink package does not include expresso, Cappuccino or water so that was disappointing. We had a stocked refrigerator in our room that we were happy to see and used but it turns out that was excluded from the drink package as well so we had to fight them with the billing on that as well. The night of New year’s eve I got food poisoning so my new year’s eve celebration was horrible. The majority of the customers we spoke to on the boat had the same complaints and either preferred Royal Caribbean or Carnival better than NCL. The Island of port were great and loved to see them again.

The on-board spa was a nice extra. We had facials, massages, haircuts, hair done, manis and pedis all while on board. We subbed our bodies with various scrubs and enjoyed a fantastic view off the back of the boat. The speciality meals were worth doing because we got a nice variety. We had nice pictures to take home.
