Another Oceania Triumph

By: John S

Reviewed on: 25 Oct 2023

Allura is a triumph for Oceania. A significant improvement in the cabin arrangement. A bathroom that 2 people can occupy at the same time. A shower that even a person over 6 ft. 6 in can use in comfort. All of the other things that you love about Oceania are still there. French styled food lovers may regret the loss of "Jacques".

Relaxing Mediterranean Overview

Great ship, crew and much of the itinerary. Oceania is known for their food and it was excellent but thought that the main dining room was comparable to several of specialty restaurants. The exception was the Polo Grill which was outstanding. We are not big on casinos nor the class of customer that they tend to attract so that a distraction. Felt that the musical quartet, which was excellent, was poorly served by having to perform in essentially a hallway - wasn't an atrium area on the ship where they could perform without constant traffic in front of them which took away from the enjoyment. Great service everywhere on this ship but would have liked more opportunities to learn about our ports. Excursion guides were hit and miss and the lack of headsets to hear the guides made it difficult to hear. Would skip Ibiza. Malta is a must see. Think this works for some with better options for others.

Brand New Ship

We had a wonderful time aboard the Allura. Nice new ship with large room and fabulous bathroom. The food was good and there were plenty of options. The excursions were expensive and the two we choose were not very good. The first, to Amalfi Coast, was poorly organized, the guide dropped us off and told us to shop after a potty break. He never mentioned a thing about what we would see or the history. The excursion included lunch. We went to a restaurant where the menu was preselected. They should have shared what we were having so we could manage how much we ate. Food was good. Then he gave us more time to shop before taking us to a chocolate shop to taste Lemoncello chocolate. Then he left us to wander around. Again no I do About the area. The second excursion was better. It was in au-x-Provence. The walking tour was ok. Some in our party had issues walking as fast as the guide. He encouraged us to wander on our own. Disappointed for the cost of the excursions.

Overall we were very pleased with the ship and the crew. The cabins are comfortable and the bathrooms are outstanding. The balconies are small, and the lounging furniture on the ship is prettier than it is comfortable. The food in Jacques is not as authentic as it should be. Example, baba au rhum was basically brioche with whipped cream onto which the server poured the rum. Lobster Thermidor was tiny bits of lobster in a mushroom cream sauce put back into the shell. The escargot lacked flavor. But the other restaurants and Grand Dining Room were very good. Pastries and brunch are outstanding. Cocktails are generous and they don't chintz on the liquor. Nearly all staff were unfailingly helpful and polite. The Starlink WIFI is tediously slow and only serves 2 devices per cabin at a time. We skipped a tender port and another port was changed on the itinerary. I feel Oceania did not spend enough time in the ports. 6 hours was about the average time which is really inadequate

Really enjoyed the new Creperie however, missed the Library, which is now just a room by the Lync computer center. The Aquamar restaurant is a real treat and they should add that to every ship. Did not eat in Terrace restaurant one time this voyage - it seemed very dark and uninviting.

A Preview Of The Allura

Although we were only on a brief 4 day cruise, we were impressed by the ship and its crew. The Main Dining Room, Polo Grill and Toscana all provided excellent meals and wonderful service. The Concierge Room was lovely, with its large bathroom and good size shower. We thought that the storage space (i.e. the cupboard and number of drawers) would not be enough space for a cruise of 2 weeks or longer.

Beautiful ship has poor customer service

By: C & M

Reviewed on: 31 Dec 2025

Oceania Vista and Allura are stunning beauties: delicious food, top notch staff in the lounges and restaurants, and in our suite. Our Vista cruise in 2024 was absolutely fantastic in every facet of our trip. Our Allura cruise in 2025 has us looking at Regent. Training is important. Why is there no app for Oceania??? Three months before our cruise, I literally spoke to Mark at Oceania customers service to cancel an excursion; it was never done. On the ship our fantastic butler, Rahul, cancelled it and another for us. The destination staff (Dragonia (sp?) canceled ALL of our 5 excursions. We tendered to St.Bart’s Resort and (lead) Alina told us we had to return to the ship! 😡 Our statement was a mess; Thank goodness concierge Carlos was able to get it sorted out; our $800+ usd refunded and reinstate our St. Jost excursion! We got a $17.00 bottle of wine and an apology. There were many complaints of a family of 40 with unruly/unsupervised children; the staff seemed helpless.

It so good!

I use to be enthusiastic about Oceania, however there has been a change in corporate culture that has reduced the pleasure of sailing on Oceania Cruises. Suttle but obvious. Example—moving happy hour from 5-6:30 to 9-10:30 during Showtime. Real crappy!! Change to self service at the buffet. Real unsanitary. Real shame from what we came to expect and experience on Oceania Cruises. Check-in on a recent cruise was a disaster created by Oceania Staff and Management .

The ship and staff were excellent. Very clean. Always nice to see faces we recognize. No happy hour at 5:00 now is a disappointment. What they don’t make enough money on their drinks. The wine in the room is like a $3 bottle of wine and the wine included at lunch and dinner is horrible. They select the cheapest. Buffet venues were not hot . Repeated menu items a lot. Polo had poor steaks. Tough and flavorless. Jacques was tasteless. Red Ginger was good as usual as was Toscana.

A memorable and happy cruise experience

By: Mrs Wong

Reviewed on: 10 Jan 2026

Our time on board the Allura was lovely. The crew are very pleasant and do their best to cater to every request. The ship is beautiful and there are plenty of activities on board to suit mature adults. We found the food and specialty coffees to be excellent. The only thing that was missing from the Allura is the standard Promenade Deck (usually Deck 5) on larger ships which we love for jogs and strolls. There is a very small jogging track on upper deck 15 but it was too windy and too sunny for our liking. We did exercise in the gym which was well equipped. We would highly recommend this ship for people seeking a quiet, mature cruise experience - older adults who want to get away from it all in a sophisticated and subdued environment.

Mixed Feelings about this voyage

By: Leslie

Reviewed on: 23 Jan 2026

Very mixed. Beautiful ship with many venues for eating, drinking, painting, exercising, and gambling. Excellent specialty restaurants for steaks, Italian, French and Asian cuisines . Concierge suites are smaller than on on other lines (think Regent or Silversea).January 4 sailing on the Allura found an inexperienced crew who did not smile or make guests feel welcome. Service especially poor on the pool deck. Too few crew for 1200 passengers on sea days. Dirty towels and glasses not collected timely. Poorest service and food offerings in the huge main dining area. Cold food, zero smiles. Food much better in specialty restaurants, but only the French restaurant had first class service. Too many newbie crew members , many with extremely limited English. Best daily fare and service in the Aquamar restaurant with great health food choices. Lovely Asian female servers who knew how to smile!and make guests feel welcome. Oceana has excellent on boarding and debarking at Pier J in Miami.

Wonderful First-Time Cruise

Reviewed on: 15 Feb 2026

As this was our first cruise ever, we were very hesitant before sailing. The weather didn’t cooperate, but we still loved everything about the Allura. The ship is brand new and is absolutely beautiful. Our suite was spacious and very quiet. The bathroom and especially the shower was huge. Lots of storage space. Since there were only about 1200 passengers, it never felt crowded. Lots of food choices. We enjoyed the buffet as much as the specialty restaurants and we would have been happy to eat there every day. In fact, we ate outside on the back of the ship whenever we could. But best of all was the service - kind, attentive and always with a smile. We have never met a group, including room stewards, servers, chefs, deck staff, admin staff, in fact everyone, who always tried to help and please you as much as possible. We booked another Allura cruise, while on board, because we were so pleased - the service alone is worth going again
