The service was excellent, and all staff were ever helpful, professional, and friendly. Food was superb. Although we never did formally meet our stateroom staff, it was always extremely well maintained. Our only less than ideal food and service experience was at the Polo Grille. We also enjoyed all the ports and excursions except for Nassau which seemed a little below the standards of such an amazing cruise line experience. We have been on 10 Oceania cruises and have an 11th planned for this Oct. from Barcelona to Venice on the Marina. Vernon Hayes has handled all of those cruises. We have a question as to why do other people get up-graded and we never do? 3 couples who we have told about Oceania have been up-graded and we wonder what their magic is? It is about time, don't you think? Vernon's agency in Beaufort has done other cruise line cruises for us...Princess 3 times, Celebrity 3 times and 4 aboard Holland America. Oceania is a top cruise line and we will probably keep going. We have never had any Virtuoso Amenities to my knowledge. Vernon has given us shipboard credit several times which was so nice of him.

This last flight with a connection was the worst. The airline lost our luggage and we did not have anything for two days. This is unacceptable! No compensation on the cruise or a future cruise. We have an upcoming cruise in June, but are considering cancelling it due to the distress we endured recently.

Beautiful ship and facilities. Outstanding housekeeping and cleanliness! Great cruise director! Food has continued to be excellent. Entertainment was a surprise-very good and a tremendous improvement from Marina entertainment during the maiden year. The restaurant staff was very good, although a few people may not have been as excited to be there as Marina's maiden year staff-but overall very good. Barista was great! Housekeeping -Francis was the hardest working guy on the ship! Definitely plan to make more Oceania cruises in the future. Concern-I believe that your stated dress policy-country casual- is not being enforced. I think staff is too timid to tell guests that admittance will be denied. Saw many swim suits in the Terrace. Also noted that some wine stewards were a bit disappointed when we didn't order wine-This trip unfortunately, my wife was unable to drink alcohol, due to a medical-liver- issue.

this was our 7th cruise on Oceania with two more booked w/i next year including a 39 day. Oceania is a great cruise line, however our recent "Black Sea Legends " cruise on the new Riviera was NOT Oceania's best performance - hopefully a one time glich. Ship just did not "click" as they have before. Crew seemed less friendly, slight cut back on food variety and a real screw up on ports including a last minute cancellation and replacement of a port for no good reason. Hope they are not beginning a down hill slide now that NCL has them!

There has been some dimunition in the overall quality of this highly rated cruise line. Service was down a bit and they have cut some food portions considerably - but this is, overall, a really good cruise line. WE love the ability to dine in many restaurants and to have such a variety of venues (outdoor and indoor). On the Caribbean cruise we took, there were virtually no goings-on in the pool area and some of the piped in music was funereal in nature. Shore excursions were mostly snorkeling and scuba diving - appropriate for this area. Not too many other tours and, as always they are way overpriced. Better off most of the time just getting a taxi or booking a tour at the pier. remember, Oceania merely presents tours run by the same local companioes that service other tourists - only at a much higher price. TV and internet are still as bad as always. Entertainment was good - not great - but certainly adequate for this sailing.

We liked this cruise but we did not love it. We are happier on their smaller vessels. Also we found that the food choices were more limited this time, although it has been a while since we cruised with them as we had opted for the small Princess ships for a few trips. Dessert choices at the lunch buffet seemed more limited and whatever happened to the shrimp cocktail that we ordered every night. No longer available. There were nights in the Grand Dining room that none of the choices appealed to us. I think we missed the coziness of Nautica and Regatta, the décor, the bar. Riviera does not seem like a warm ship in comparison. Service was still good and we had no complaints but I will put up with the small bathrooms for the intimacy of the small ships.

We would recommend Oceania cruises for its small and elegant ship design. The cabins are well appointed and the guests are from all over the world. I would not recommend this cruise for families or children as most of the guests are traveling as couples only. The advantage of a small ship is that it can dock in smaller ports. This ship has a gorgeous culinary center for guests. Culinary Classes are onboard. Very nice! The casino is small and fun. The art classes are filled to capacity and the student work is on display when class is not in session. The food is available 24/7, and all kinds of fine dining experiences are available. Poolside grill, open air restaurants and private dining in gourmet restaurants are a few of the choices they offer. The executive lounge and concierge are very convenient if you spend a little more for a lot of friendly conversation and extra amenities. If you are considering a cruise, consider OCEANIA!

My wife and I have cruised a bit (55+ cruises) on a multitude of different cruise lines, initially w/ Carnival (not our style), then RCCL, Celebrity, Princess, and Crystal, but when we were first introduced to Oceania we were hooked. The smaller ships are more intimate and friendly, the staff at all levels very congenial and accommodating, the ships spotless, and the dining superb. We've been on all of their ships (most of them multiple times) and all of the ships compare very favorably with Crystal at a materially more reasonable cost. We were a bit concerned when NCL took them over ... perhaps some of the NCL "DNA" would work its way into Oceania ... but we just got home from a trans-Atlantic trip on the Riviera and things were even better this time around than in the past. We select cruises based upon itinerary first, but when all else is equal or nearly so Oceania is far and away our preferred cruise line.

The rooms are larger than expected and the bathroom is amazingly well-appointed, with good lighting and full size tub. There is more storage space than found on many ships as well. The food is incredible, and the opportunities to dine in the specialty restaurants is something not to be missed. All staff members are friendly and accommodating. There is no "push" to do this or that - your time can be very much your own and is what you make of it. You may join others for dinner or dine alone. Entertainment is not flashy, but worth watching. It is a very impressive cruise line and we would highly recommend it.

This was our 2nd voyage with Oceania and on Riviera. The first was excellent, beyond comparison to other cruise lines we've been on. This was one was impacted by a serious norovirus event which led to a shortened cruise. Although I don't fault Oceania for the problem, I was somewhat disappointed in their response to it. The crew remained professional and friendly under very trying circumstances, but the management's response was less than the "world-class" standard I'd come to expect from Oceania. Once the decision to terminate the cruise early was made, the remaining 2 days on-board suffered from a serious lack of customer service. The crew was focused only on cleaning and not on trying to make the best of a bad experience for the customers. There were no deck attendants or servers to be found. We waited for over 25 minutes for someone to provide place settings in the Terrace Cafe for breakfast. Everything outside the stateroom became virtually self-service. Poor.

The cruise with this ship - and indeed this line - was well organized, and there was no complaint whatsoever about the service and the condition of the ship itself. The only area it might consider tidying up would be the tendering ports. They didn't have enough announcements for where to be and when to be there. As \I was in A |Penthouse Suite I was confused by changing instructions as to how to get onto the tenders. However, it all came together!

I saw people put their things on two chairs, one in the sun and one in the shade for later. Not fair. The Currents newsletter states that personal items will be cleared by the deck staff but nobody monitors it or does it. Not good for the sea days when you'd like to be outside and there's no place to sit.

The best tour was Kohunlich & Dzibanche Mayan Ruins (8 hrs.). The tour director (Diana) was OUTSTANDING. This tour made up for the other 2 mediocre tours. The only reason I booked Quirigua Archaeological National Park was because it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We had an exceptional stateroom captain - Melissa - who, with Matthew, did a wonderful job keeping things clean and tidy, while entertaining us throughout the voyage.
During the trip we encountered seas rough enough not to be able to tender into the port. The captain kept us informed of changes to our itinerary and why we needed to go to another port. I was very happy with the revised port selections. The Destination Services team were able to find new excursions, rebook them and to also find local travel hosts to give us information on the ports....To top it off the food was wonderfully delicious and the gym handy enough to thwart the extra calories. Kudos to Oceania

Just back from the Miami to Barcelona cruise - 14 days on beautiful Riviera. It's been two years since our last trip and we're happy to say that standards are still exceptionally high on board.
Ship staff are exceptionally well trained, friendly, efficient and always ready to help with a smile.
The food was, once again, to a very high standard. Our only frown was at the change from French butter to American Land O Lakes! Nobody does butter like the French!
Can't wait to go back, and yes, would most assuredly recommend Riviera.

This was our third Oceania cruise. The first two were on the Regatta, a somewhat smaller ship. On the Riviera we enjoyed a larger cabin (especially the bathroom) as well as the extra specialty restaurant, Red Ginger. The ship seemed somewhat more stable due to its larger size. The crew was wonderful, as always. Very friendly and helpful. Can't go wrong with Oceania in our opinion.

The ship was clean with friendly and efficient staff. The food was good, especially in the four specialty restaurants (our favorite was Red Ginger, the Asian fusion restaurant). Entertainment was very good with accommodating bands who played good dance music. I appreciated staff's fond memories of my mother Pauline, who was a previous passenger but passed way on March 15, 2018. Shore excursions were well-run. Airplane reservations were not so good, as we had poor seat selections on the two flights home.
Three days at sea were good for me due to duplicate bridge and team trivia, but my fiancée Amy was bored due to lack of her preferred activities. Need more dance lessons or music or arts and crafts during the day, not just starting at 4 PM for afternoon tea.
I liked it well enough to book another Oceania cruise to Europe for both of us for next year.

We loved this cruise line. The ships are a great size ( we had around 1250 guests) and so much was included in the price. We didn’t have the feeling of being nickeled and dimed for everything. The crew was great and very helpful and the ship was quite organized, no lines. Most ports had shuttles to the town which was very nice as the tours sometimes become a bit overwhelming. The food was excellent and the ship staterooms were very nice and well maintained. I really can’t think of any criticism.

The ports we stopped at were beautiful and there was so much to see.
Getting on and off the ship was very organized.
We were happy to spend one day at sea as we enjoyed the pool and Canyon Ranch Spa.
We did go to the nightly shows but I think they could have hired better entertainers.
I was not expecting Broadway but all the entertainment seemed very amateurish for a luxury cruise line.
Most of the staff was great but I personally think they could still do a better job training the entire staff to go out of their way for the guests.

I am disappointed in the service levels. Although they were good, they were not GREAT in the Grand dining room, as would be expected on an expensive top end cruise line. There were 2 amazing waiters, but the rest did not seem to have the same passion for service. Their after-sale service lacks as well. I wrote to them a week ago about 2 issues (a lost drivers license and an un-redeemed casino voucher) and they have not yet felt the need to respond , even after 3 requests.

We loved our experience. The quality of service was wonderful in the Penthouse category. Our butler was wonderful (Chetan). The specialty food restaurants were the best in cruising we feel. The like the size ship and the crew to guest ratio. We loved the amount of time at sea mixed with ports. Our one complaint was the stop at Great Stirrup Cay....it was not up to the quality of anything else this cruise had going for it. The food was quite less in quality and there was nothing of real interest in spending a day there. Additionally, we've stopped at private islands on other cruise lines that were much better designed and much better food. This seemed to be operated by Norwegian which I understand is a part of Oceania's family, but the quality was more reflective of Norwegian and not Oceania.....and I would never choose a Norwegian cruise so that was disappointing. The ship, the service, the restaurants, the amenities, the size stateroom, the ports otherwise were simply divine

The internet service aboard ships is pretty bad. You have WiFi for one Acct & it’s so slow. Of course you can pay a pretty hefty price -& this cruise is not cheap-but even paying, internet was not great. This is a problem when you are trying to research a destination.
Excursions are convenient and okay. It was an okay start to getting to know the area. Our best tour was with a private tour that we found on our own but we were taking a chance.
I would have enjoyed more pre-destination education-like a lecture on the area, or at least this could have been an option vs just the band or comedian entertainment every night. We enjoyed trivia.

This was my wife and my 7th trip on Oceania and 6th on the Riviera. It is a wonderful ship with beautiful cabins, with large bathrooms, and great public rooms. It definitely has the best specialty resturants of any cruise line which are free and even there buffet will cook to order lobster tails and steak every night. However, the best part of the ship is it's crew who are outstanding and so very friendlt. A large example of this just occurred on our Med cruise from Rome to Venice. Europe has been experiencing an abnormal heat wave. We were on a tour of the original Olympic Site on Katakolon (a Greek Island) and my wife was overcome by heat and passed out for a few minyutes at the site. Upon returning to the ship via cab we received a call from the destination manager asking how my wife was doing which showed great concern and was appreciated. That night the head chef prepared dinner in our room for my wife from the specialy French restaurant. What great service and concern

We chose this cruise as the finish of a europe land based holiday.Riviera started in Rome to Venice as 11 day cruise. The ship was recently refurbished and was newly carpeted throughout as well as the soft furnishings cabins are roomy enough with quality linen powerful shower never running out of hot water. The food in the MDR as well as the four specialty restaurants is superb.Rump steak available for b fast cooked to your liking was tender & juicy.Staff were friendly, internet worked well & with only 1200 passengers it was easy to move around & find a quiet spot. There is IllysBaristas coffee bar on board that being the best coffee of any ship we have sailed on.Oceania do not supply shuttles in every port.Sometimes long distance walks are required to catch a cab. They need to work on this.

Riviera restaurants are excellent. Housekeeping was very good. Some excursions are good and some are just so-so. Depends on the tour guide at that locale. The communication could be better (e. g, we are now arriving at ----port); even though it is in the daily "Currents" it helps to say when we are departing or arriving. The wine list is not good.....too expensive and only a couple chardonnays and one they were out of. Five years ago there were better selections and better package deals.

Service was five star and the specialty restaurants along with the grill were amazing.. We enjoyed all aspects of this ship so much that we have booked it again for 2020

The ship’s cabins were very spacious and clean. The food and service were outstanding. That said, at least two of the excursions were disorganized and not well coordinated. Moreover, 36 hours before a major tour, the ship’s Destination Services representative informed us that we were being dropped from the tour because the tour company was limiting the number of people on the tour. We understand that the ship did not have control over the tour company, but it did not offer us a reasonable alternative and did not tell us in a timely way.

The only issue I have is the boarding process in NYC. Because of Priority Boarding, the rest of us had to STAND in line for an hour!! Why could we have not have been seated and called in a timely manner? Many of those in line were on walkers or used canes! How inconsiderate because there was seating right there,
The service on board was impeccable! Our Stewardesses, Ami and Honey could not have been sweeter as they made certain every detail was taken care of. Dining was over the top with The Red Ginger Restaurant being my favorite!! And we had a bartender in Horizons who made my Bloodies just like I like them—- extra olive juice!
The Excursion in St. John which was done through Oceania was the worst ever. It was a Trolley Ride and the guide had no clue! His facts were incorrect! And the Destinations Desk was not at all helpful in answering questions if you were going out on your own. Thought the lectures on destinations could be improved! Quite boring,
Would love to go again

We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service on this larger ship. We previously sailed on the Regatta, a former Renaissance ship (R-ship). We preferred the smaller size.
The food was superb, and we enjoyed the specialty dining. In particular, we reserved the Privee room for ourselves and family members for a special dinner. The service was superb.
That said, Oceania, as an organization has some odd rules and systems in place. Once onboard, we were able to take care of a number of matters, using our concierge. We simply would not sail again, unless we were at concierge level. Booking restaurants online ahead of sailing was a mess. Expanding on that, the web experience with Oceania is a mess.
In our opinion, the only negative was the "future cruise" person, Michael Sadeleer. While he seems to know the Oceania organization quite well, we feel that he was lacking in people skills and overbearing when trying to sell. We would not do business again with him.

The Riviera is a lovely mid-size ship with great food and excellent service. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly with an attentive staff across the board. We had some bad weather days which limited our options of shore excursions- some of which had to be cancelled at the least minute. Also, the port of Costa Maya was inundated with thousands of other cruise ship passengers from 2 other mega ships docked at the same time we were, which made it a very overcrowded stop. All in all it was a relaxing cruise and very pleasant on the ship.

We have made 15 Oceania cruises over the past 10 years, including the maiden voyage of Riviera and several others subsequently, as well as several on her sister ship, Marina.
We particularly enjoy accommodations afforded by the Concierge level staterooms on the two ships which we find superior and more spacious than those of comparable level staterooms on other cruise lines. Of equal importance, we find that dining and dining venues aboard the two ships are excellent and generally superior to those we've found aboard other ships. On the negative side, we've observed that the level of service had declined rather steadily over the past 10 years, a matter which was confirmed by other long-time Oceania travelers whom we met on this cruise. A second matter of dissatisfaction is that land excursion information is frequently misleading and sometimes incorrect, again a dissatisfaction corroborated by others on this cruise.

The weather was very good 13 out of 14 days. Our next to last day was rough seas and a little difficult for everyone but the Captain & crew did everything they could to make us comfortable. It passed & our last day on board was great.
We ate meals at seven restaurants & they were all delicious. Constantly changing menus provided a wide array of choices each day. Menus are available on your cabin TV so you always know what is available. Grilled Lobster, Lamb Chops, and Steaks were available every night in the Terrace restaurant Grill in addition to the ever changing evening selections. Service was very good throughout the ship and some of the staff are truly exceptional. Everyone was very friendly & always willing to help.
