Delightful ship. Wonderful people. Good times, but there are two areas the need change. Most of the ship land cruises are way over priced and most are underperformed. As a general rule, if we know about the port, we either make private arrangements or find a cab at the port and end up with a personal guide. The second area is that the dining experience should include wine, and allow the ship to offer better wines to the guests.

900. We have enjoyed all five of our trips on Oceania. This tour was on Nautica. We like the smaller ships, including Marina, because of their ambience and their ability to access ports close to city centers. The staff are so courteous, friendly and well trained. We have met wonderful fellow travelers, enjoyed excellent meals and found the lectures on this last cruise to be outstanding. The ports of call were well chosen and the tours we chose were very interesting and well guided. Wireless services were 'spotty' and that was somewhat frustrating. We did an extended land tour after the cruise, also arranged and hosted by Oceania, and that was an amazing experience, the memory which we will treasure.

Nautica is showing some age and the forthcoming refurbishing is needed. The cruise caused some challenges due to illness of many passengers and crew but we enjoyed the cruise and appreciated the efforts of all. At times it was obvious that there crew was stretched but they coped well. We like Oceania and it will continue to be our cruise default. Realistic scheduling of tours should be addressed to include predictable traffic delays that caused tours to be off schedule.

We booked a sixteen day Asia cruise nine months in advance to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The cost was almost $13,000. Several weeks prior to setting sail my spouse developed a vitreous tear and the retina specialists were concerned it could lead to a retina detachment and advised against traveling because immediate medical intervention could not guaranteed. We did not have traditional travel insurance. I wrote to the COO of Oceania, which is owned by Norwegian Cruise Line stating exactly what had happened. All that I requested was reimbursement for visa processing fees which had not been done yet and the additional airline service fees charged because we were not flying out of a key city. The total request was around $800. I felt this was a very fair request. Oceania called and refused the request. We had previously taken six Norwegian cruises and one other Oceania cruise. I will never sail with this company again. Please share this message with Oceania management.

This was our 10th Oceania cruise, our first time on Nautica. We have been on all the other ships, except the newest, Sirena. We love the Oceania line for many reasons: the staff are excellent, the food is superb (every bite, in every restaurant). We love the fact that restaurants are NOT 'first or second seating', but that you walk in when you prefer. The country-club ambience is exactly right, and the adults-only passenger makeup means it's relatively peaceful and serene. Very relaxing and friendly environment. So happy that Oceania has now put a Barista coffee-house on the smaller ships too, and perfect to have it located in the Grand Bar, just outside the Grand Dining Room. It gives that room a purpose during the day, and the Bar has a nice amount of comfortable seating. Love also the specialty restaurants, Polo and Toscana, which are available at no extra charge. The Gym is inspiring, with its wall of windows permitting lots of sea-gazing. And the Canyon Ranch spa is lovely! Look

There were a few times that the decks were sealed off, but still there was plenty of room- never felt crowded. As previously mentioned, the.bathrooms are small but even for a 58 day voyage, there was enough space. The Nautica and her sister ships (almost identical) are unique in what they offer the traveler. We were on the 7th deck and could hear a lot of noise when the ship was coming into port and preparing to dock. While the noise did bother us, the movement of the shipment that we felt in this suite did not - we enjoyed it, but those with "wobbly" sea legs, I wouldn't recommend it. Dining was superb - with one exception....the Polo Grill. I really loved the outdoor dining, when weather permitted, AND ESPECIALLY THE ICE CREAM!!! We dined in the special reservation dining room and this time was very enjoyable to us. As for off ship tours most met our expectations with only one being a disaster due to the tour guide. This tour was less than standard. The tour staff was superb in the organization of the tours. The most inconvenience we experienced was the lack of internet. This needs to be rectified.

Overall we were happy but there were so things one should know about this ship. It is due for an overhaul as rooms were small and dated and bathrooms were even worse. It needs new carpets, too. The food and service was excellent. I would skip their excursions and book privately. Better quality and value. They cancelled 2 of our excursions at the last minute, on of which we didn't find out about until I noticed our tickets were missing. They made NO attempt to rebook us- we were left on our own! The entertainment was average and the house performers were amateurish. I would consider Oceania again but never on the Nautica.

Enjoyed every minute on the Nautica. The Nautica is a smaller ship but not too small, the food was amazing, the staff extremely personable and very helpful. The Nautica was able to dock in most ports so very little tendering on this cruise! That provides more time on land to do things you want to do. It was easy to bond with a lot of the staff and you soon felt like they were friends or family!! The activities onboard the ship had good variety to them and for the most part extremely entertaining. I feel there was something there for everyone to do and participate in. The excursions had good choices and good variety. The only one that was a bit disappointing was in the Maldives. I feel it could be improved with an offer for an excursion that would allow people to do a catamaran ride through the islands and possibly the ability to dock on one of the island for a swim and a barbecue!! Just a thought.

The only negative comment I have about the Ship is the size of the staterooms -- we were Concierge Level -- but the rooms were very "compact" -- and that is being generous. The bathroom was tiny compared to other ships I have been on, and the shower curtain only added to lack of thoughtfulness in designing the room. The sofa in the sitting area was very small and the room had a stool instead a full desk chair. Other than the above, the service, excursions, food, staff and ambiance in the public rooms was excellent. The two specialty restaurants were superb, as was the buffet. Given the room size, however, I would not sail on this Ship again unless I had full size suite.

All the service people were there 24/7 with a smiling greeting and truly enjoyed their role aboard ship. The three enrichment lecturers were fascinating. The elevators were always available and unlike a ship that was advertised as the finest cruise ship built, this one took you to your destination. The Nautica itself was built in 2002 but was the quietest ship no matter it’s speed. The docking was so silent as to be undetectable. This captain did a great job.

My recommendation above with a "yes" is conditional. The ship is old (maybe 20 years) and I think it's about 7 years from most recent refit it is showing it's age. This trip was darn close to perfect Our suite was super and with it came our butler Tapin you made our trip! I can't tell you how fabulous the Terrace restaurant was. We are normally NOT a buffet-kind-of-couple but the service and especially the food was superb. In fact after an unfortunate meal/service experience in the Main Dinning Room we took most of our meals in the Terrace. One big issue we had, which we never experiences on other cruise lines were ALL the thresholds from outside deck into the passenger areas of the interior were designed without care to disabled person's scooters. The centre point was too high therefore my wife was UNABLE to go outdoors by herself without help (scooter needed to be lifted across threshold.) Crew was very helpful when they were around.

A good cruise
Reviewed on: 13 Dec 2018
We chose this trip because of it's (in our eyes) very interesting itinerary. The ship has a classical design - maybe a little dated. We had a veranda state room, which was small compared to other cruise lines. The food was good, both in the big dining room, in the buffet restaurant as well as in the specialty restaurant. The staff is excellent: very friendly and accommodating. There are plenty of organized things to do on the ship. Disembarkation was not handled well in Salala and in Dubai. In Salala we were 2 hours late to arrive and got delayed another hour because of custom; the guests that had early excursions should have been prioritized, when it came to leave the ship Now everybody tried to and were allowed by the staff to get off at the same time. In Dubai we were all supposed to pick up our passports which lead to another rangle - Same thing: prioritize the passengers in the order of the start time for the shore excursions! This was not well organized.

Excellent, the itinerary was very busy and the schedule did not provide a lot of time for relaxing, we knew this and were prepared, we chose this cruise specifically for the ports visited. Enjoyment of the Athens - Dubai segment was marred somewhat by a group of about 140 Chinese people who tended not to follow basic cruise etiquette. For instance; on excursions they would go off the ship before their number was called and would save a number of seats at the front of the bus by placing coats and canes etc. on them for their friends, at the Captains party a couple would come early to be at the front of the line and then just before the doors opened a large group walked past the line and literally elbowed their way in first, they would make reservations at specialty restaurants and not show nor cancel. Cruise staff were aware of these etiquette “misdeeds” but seemed to do nothing about them. I do understand that this behaviour is part of their culture, just a bit disappointed though.

Many times there were tables that needed to be bussed at Waves Grill. Since this is an outside venue, many people wanted to sit outside and finding a clean table was difficult. In the GDR, the service was very slow. Waiters were not overly friendly and we did not find them eager to please as has been the case on previous sailings with Oceania. The super slow service was really annoying and the limited dining room menu was a disappointment. Several nights we found nothing we wanted to eat. I opted for a baked potato and soup since the choices were so poor. Other nights, there were too many choices. We wondered why the menus were so variable. Really bad experience in the GDR. Cabins were nice.

We love our experiences with all of the Oceania cruises we have taken--and we loved our trip on Nautica. The staff is excellent and attends to all our needs. The food is delicious, and the excursions we found to be of great interest and we thoroughly enjoyed them, We look forward to our next trip.

Terrific. We have sailed with Oceania a number of times now and the food, staff, entertainment, exercise options and destinations are fantastic. The food and staff are particularly exceptional.
The Nautica has reached the end of it's useful life

This was our first voyage on the Nautica, and there won't be a second. For that matter, after 8 voyages on Oceania, typically in either the Owner's or Vista Suites, this will be our last. The practice of providing free restocking of beer and soft drinks in our Owner's Suite bar was discontinued, unfortunately without notice after we boarded the ship. The mechanical systems on the Nautica, like the suite air conditioning, have significantly deteriorated to the point that we woke each evening in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. This is really a terrible shame as we've had many fabulous voyages with Oceania, but it seems that the merger with Norwegian has finally caught up with the Oceania experience.

As a new client of Oceania, I loved the size of the ship, the people, the excursions, the crew, the on-board activities, but most importantly, the low-key atmosphere this ship offers. With me, it's always about the itinerary, and this cruise did not disappoint. I also want to credit the company with the excellent weather we experiences as we cruised from Cape Town to Singapore in Jan/Feb 2019. My only disappointment, which actually turned into a delightful silver lining, was that the food was a bit of a let down. When I weighed myself upon return, I had lost five pounds! For me, that is a positive! But seriously, other passengers also felt that the food was not up to par from their previous cruises with the same line, so this may be something for the company to address for future cruises. All in all, it was a superb experience. We met so many nice people who shared our love for world travel! Cheers, Oceania and Nautica!
