I enjoyed the trip and found the staff very willing to accommodate the needs of it's visitors. I would suggest the you add an extension trip to Finland as I had to organize this myself. Viking does do this. Also, I would suggest that you offer a cold drink and cold towel to your guests when returning to the ship on hot days. You do provide this service on your Cambodia cruise.

Best trip we have ever taken. A river cruise (music on the danube), many on shore tours and we met delightful fellow travellers. The lodging, food and amenities were a 10 out of 10. Best part? the onboard staff we interacted with. All were friendly/engaging.The cruise director (Nick Hartog) made the trip special for us. Extremely organized, always ready with an answer, and excellent in his role, even under pressure. I was on a cycling trip to an abby (great event) where a passenger fell off her bike-needing medical attention. The Amaprima cycling staff were well prepared, calling for medical attention immediately. Nick also arrived within 15 min with a bus to transport the other cyclists to the boat, accompanying the injured person to a local hospital, ensuring all suitable care were provided, escorted her & husband back to the boat, JIT to give a next day briefing to passengers. Cyclist later told us that she hadn't paid anything for the service, even more impressive. Thank you Nick!

We just returned from the Christmas Market cruise on the Danube and cannot say enough good things about this cruise and cruise line. The pace of the cruise was perfect and it was great that the tours were included. Our favorite tours included a Mozart and Strauss concert in Vienna (with dancers and singers!) and the Goulash cooking class. The guides were outstanding on all tours and the tour groups not too large. Overall, a great trip! We are already planning our next trip with Amawaterways.

In LOVE with AmaBella!

Well I don't know even where to start because our trip on the Romantic Danube aboard the AmaBella was the most incredible and memorable trip! This was our first time on a river cruise and it certainly will not be our last! The staff and crew on board were outstanding and did everything to make sure we had a perfect travel experience even with all the restrictions due to Covid. Everyone was professional and it is clear that they love what they do. AMA is lucky to have this team aboard their ship! Our room was updated, spacious and beautifully appointed. The bedding was luxurious, toiletries were high quality, bathroom was spacious and the shower was fabulous! Everything was super clean and we loved how quickly our room was serviced both in the morning while we had breakfast or the evening turn down service while we had dinner. Oh, and let me tell you that the food was incredible and would satisfy the foodies, those with dietary restrictions, and even the picky eaters! We'll be back!

Gems of Southeast Europe - Enlightening and Fun

We started in Vienna for our pre cruise extension, where we met Miriam Oravcova, our Cruise Manager. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. We had a nice city tour and enough time to enjoy the city on our own. We were then bussed to Budapest, for a tour and then to board the AMABella. The staff was very welcoming and Miriam got us up to speed on the days to come. Of course, the food was good, especially the desserts. Due to Covid we were assigned a table and another couple for the whole cruise. Fortunately this couple was very nice and we really enjoyed dining with them. What followed were different ports and walking tours over the next few days. Good guides, enlightening sights, but some of the tours were a bit too long. The crew and Miriam did a wonderful job arranging the Covid tests needed for each country. Our vow renewal, officiated by the Captain, was glorious, with guests, champagne and cake. We are grateful for the memories and photos.

Our Danube River Cruise aboard the AmaBella was excellent from beginning to end. Four things that really made a difference for us were the following: 1. Fabulous energy and enthusiasm from the crew and staff. 2. The quality of the cuisine and dining experience was excellent. 3. A great variety of active port excursions available with educated, dynamic guides. 4. Lots of pampering to create a relaxing and worry-free experience. Would definitely recommend for anyone considering trying a river cruise adventure!

Christmas trip

It was a very fun and exciting time on the ship. The great part is there were only about 34 or so passengers with a full crew. They treated us like family. The staff were very attentive and always ready to serve. We enjoyed the entertainment arranged for the nights we were there, especially meeting Santa... lol My husband and I are really thinking seriously about going on another AmaWaterways trip.

The ship (AmaStar)… Not listed in the drop-down menu) was extremely clean and the cabins were very well planned out and quite spacious. I had level C and was very comfortable. The meals were small, visually appealing, but not the best I have had on cruise ships. We did have new servers and employees during our stay on the boat and it did cause some awkward moments. The excursions were well planned but the beer and chocolate excursion was disappointing for many. The rivers that we traveled on we’re not scenic at all… A lot of industrial areas.

It was my first river cruise. The ship was very clean and the rooms were very well kept the entire time. The presentation of the food was good, sometimes it looked better than it tasted. I am not a big wine drinker so the unlimited wine at dinner was not something I really cared about. it would have been nice to be able to get a soda or a juice or something non alcoholic besides water. Access to this would have been nice throughout the day. We never knew that bottled water was sold in the gift shop until the last day. We had wished that bottled water was provided as you embarked on the daily excursions. The entertainment was lacking. The duo that sang in the evening were lovely and they did a good job. There needed to be some more variety.

Heaven on Cruise Control!

David and I loved our experience on the Amabella! Saying good-bye to Captain Rado & all the crew was a heart-breaking. We felt lavished, spoiled, and well-taken care of throughout! Our room was perfect with our balcony & sitting area, the bed was comfortable, we slept like angels every night, the gentle sound of the water rippling past, so comforting and lovely, as we sailed through the 16th century! The food was 5 star all day everyday! The wine was divine! The wait staff were saints, friendly, pampered us like royalty, funny as hell! I will miss the lounge with it's elegant & comfortable seating , the 180 degree view of the beautiful countryside, Chaba Santo, who played fantastic music every night! And Plamen, like having your favorite uncle behind the bar making cocktails with love! And finally Jessi, the cruise director who kept the tours, buses, vans, plain connections & hotel accommodations all on track! We never had to worry about a thing! Thank you a thousand times!

Cabin was comfortable and shower was a decent size. Food and beverages were very good. Staff was very accommodating and courteous. Tours were excellent. The only downside to the tours were several long bus rides near the end due in large part to low water levels. The colour scheme in the dining room is a bit too bright and varied for my taste.

Our two weeks aboard the AmaBella were wonderful. Because most of the crew and staff were from the countries we'd be cruising through, they provided wonderful insights into food and customs. The staff went above and beyond to meet our every need and desire. The excursions opened our eyes to history and culture we'd never experienced. The food was superb, and we appreciated that the portions were reasonable, so we could try a wide variety of dishes that changed as we passed through different countries. We had the experience of a lifetime aboard the AmaBella.

The staff on the ship and the Cruise Director, Vanessa, were excellent. Each night we received a "Daily Cruiser" which gave us all the details for the next day. This was very helpful to us. The food was excellent, all 3 meals. The nightly entertainment was very good. The transportation to the different excursions and the guides for the walking tours were great and knowledgeable about the areas. We would highly recommend AMA Waterways for any of their trips. We are planning our next one.

We did Gems of SE Europe on the AmaBella November 2023. We were in cabin 322. Overall I give the ship and crew 5 out of 5 stars. The ship is very well maintained, looks like it had a recent refurbish. Our cabin was very comfortable, and having both a full balcony and French balcony gave us plenty of room. There is so much storage that we didn’t use it all. The crew - I can’t give enough praise for them. Every single crew member we interacted with always went above our expectations. Il

When we first boarded the AmaBella we greeted by Captain of the ship along with many other workers. The cruise was wonderful and quaint due to the number of passengers. The ship workers were always professional and polite, and could not do enough for you. The food was excellent along with the excursions we went on. The ship was decorated for Christmas which made the trip very festive in addition to all the Christmas Markets we went to. I highly recommend a river cruise and you can't go wrong chosing AMA Waterways.

It's a nice ship, so I would recommend the ship. The cruise director seemed a bit aloof. Not interacting with cruisers. The fitness person was ok. The staff and the meals and the entertainment were all very good!

We had an amazing time. The staff was excellent, especially the restaurant mgr,Alexander& our server Shirley. My cabin was spacious & Cheryl was a great house keeper. Krisztian,the tour mgr, was wonderful.Left container of caviar in my hotel room & he went above the call of duty to retrieve it. My only criticism of the cruise is that we did not get to see the Sound of Music tour & in Vienna the tour guide simply walked us from the boat to the cathedral. I went to the palace museum , riding school, on my own. In Prague we did tour the royal palace, just walked on the outside. For the price of the cruise the company certainly could have paid the 10 euros admission.

The ship is lovely, the crew was efficient, courteous and hospitable, and our stateroom was comfortable and well-appointed. Dining was pleasant, if a bit rushed, and the food was generally fresh and well-prepared. The entertainment was enjoyable, and we appreciated especially how hard the staff worked to make the trip run smoothly.

A Lovely Experience

The AmaBella was a lovely ship and the food was excellent. Our overall experience with AmaWaterways was positive; the ship's crew were extremely friendly and professional. We enjoyed the variety of tours and the sailing experience. My only disappointment was in booking the flight package. We purchased the land package as it included a special flight price of $1099. When it came time to booking the flight, we discovered that the 'special price' was just simply a credit on the open market. We were initially booked on a connecting flight and to upgrade to a direct flight was significantly more, and we had to pay the difference. There is no guarantee that you will be booked on a direct flight (AmaWaterways will book you on whatever fits within the $1099 allotment). I, personally, would not book the land package in the future and would choose to make my own arrangements for pre and post cruise.

AMA Bella is great but AMAVerde not up to AMA Bella level

Being a first time river cruiser, I was so impressed with the AMABella and its crew. I could not find any fault with the cleanliness of the ship, the food and the amazing service of its crew. However, we did have to change to the AMA Verde in our second week of sailing. This review is not a critique of the staff but I found that the crew did not work together as a team as well compared to what I observed on the AMABella. The AMAVerde ship was understaffed compared to her sister ship which resulted in longer waiting times for dinner service and for cabin cleaning.

    We are very proud of our AmaKristina being the first river ship in the industry to receive the Green Award Certification. We also have our 20 river ships now recognized with the Green Award including AmaBella, AmaCello, AmaCerto, AmaDante, AmaDolce, AmaKristina, AmaLea, AmaLucia, AmaLyra, AmaMagna, AmaMora, AmaPrima, AmaReina, AmaSerena, AmaSiena, AmaSonata, AmaStella, AmaVenita, AmaVerde and AmaViola.     The Green Award program is an independent accreditation process for ocean vessels, inland barges and river cruise ships. The certificate is a mark for ships that demonstrate high safety and environmental standards.

    Additionally, the AmaMagna launched in 2019 with an innovative 10-engine configuration designed to reduce overall fuel consumption by up to 20 percent and now boasts solar panels on the sun deck of the ship.

    Also, AmaWaterways has replaced individual single-use toiletries with soap/shampoo dispensers, replaced plastic straws with paper ones, added glass water bottles in all staterooms, and is testing the use of recyclable water containers made mostly of renewable resources to replace plastic water bottles during excursions.
