The Star Breeze was in decent but not great shape. It was evident that the ship was older and had some visible wear and tear on the exterior (rust and corrosion) and in our cabin. I understand that the Star Breeze had undergone a refit recently - however, the wooden furniture in the our stateroom (317) was faded and worn. The pipes underneath the sinks had some rust/corrosion and the toilet tank had pulled away from the wall. The staff was quite friendly and helpful-many quickly learned our names and made the experience more personable. Our cabin steward and the dining staff were efficient and helpful. The bar staff were particularly helpful and entertaining. Having a naturalist on board as we tranisted Panama Canal was good. The food was good. Breakfast provided more than adequate choice and quality. Lunch was good tho I skipped it several times eating in town or a sandwich at the Club. Dinner was very good. The Osso bucco and duck l'orange was excellent. Limited wine selection.

This was our second voyage with Windstar, and we thought it was even better than the first. The ship is clean and comfortable and the cabins, while not huge, were well-appointed and comfortable. The food was excellent and always perfectly-prepared. The on-board entertainment is somewhat limited, as one would expect on a ship this size, but perfectly adequate. We would recommend Windstar to anyone interested in a small ship experience.

From start to finish this cruise was 5 stars! I can't say enough about how professional and kind all of the staff were on this cruise. They know your name from day 1 and take note of the little things that make your time aboard very special! Each morning our server brought me my cappuccino and my husband his tea and at dinner they were careful to note any food allergies. We celebrated my 50th birthday and our 23rd wedding anniversary while on the ship! We were treated to a very special dinner and personal cake to finish! The food each day was so fresh and delicious and the BBQ on deck was over the top with seafood, grilled pork and beef and sides galore. The gym and spa were very clean and perfect for what we needed. Each day was a new adventure with each city offering us so much to explore!! I would definitely book with Windstar again!

Ship and crew were fine. Ship is older and I had some headroom issues (6-5). Had a pretty good scab on my knoggin by the end of the week! The biggest disappointment was they only let the swim platform down one afternoon on a 10 day cruise. I wish they would have left a couple of ports early to anchor out and let people swim since the ship really doesn't have a pool.

We were 3 families making up an extended family of 12, ranging in age from 11 to 90, gathering to celebrate an important occasion. The ship was small (212 passengers) -- informal enough to keep the younger people happy and luxurious enough to meet the needs of the well-traveled older couple. The excursions were varied enough to meet the adventurous tastes of the young and the more conservative needs of the old. The officers and crew, including waiters and stewards, went out of their way to establish a mood of celebration and to make it an extremely memorable and enjoyable trip for all of us. The officers ensured that we had a private, beautifully prepared venue for a celebration dinner and even provided a photographer for special photos prior to the event. We were very grateful.

We very much enjoyed the small ship experience and found the overall cruise luxurious. Food was outstanding and crew was excellent. Our cabin and steward were just great. We enjoyed some excursions but found written descriptions went a bit overboard in building up opportunities to see wildlife. Lots of talk of bears, etc. "in the area" but the excursions were in salt water and no such animals were seen. The descriptions of the zodiac tours should be more clear on which ones include glaciers. On our cruise there were two excursions that read almost identically, but only one stop had a glacier. On another we saw a few seal and sea lions but mostly had a long boat ride in the rain.

The Star Breeze is a great Yatch. We traveled on her four years ago, prior to the addition of the new middle piece. After the major overhaul (be sure to watch the amazing video) we were excited to try the new cabin layout. It's great! We like the location of the bed nearer the window. The bathroom with the walk in shower and the two sinks is a major improvement. The fixtures and surface finishes are clean and modern. The ship is the right size for us. We have no desire to travel on a monster ship with 3,000 or more passengers with all the venues full of screaming kids. On a smaller ship one can find a spot with peace and quiet. On the Star Breeze with four (and sometimes five) dining choices you don't sacrifice variety. On a smaller ship you can go to locations and destinations not visited by the monster ships. The Star Breeze is beautifully maintained. It is clean and sharp looking throughout. The staff is efficient and friendly. The Entertainment was great. Led by Grace Caudle,

Don’t Bother Sailing on this Very Small and old Yacht

By: Joey

Reviewed on: 17 Sep 2024

You will have easy access to the Staff and Officers on this Yacht. They enlarged a small portion of the boat, but this Yacht is so small and old (1980’s) former Seabourn yacht. It does not have the latest stabilizers, and when the seas got rough, even in the South Pacific, we were like a cork bouncing around in the water. They installed a mini-sized pool that is 3 ft deep, and about 7 feet in length. It’s impossible to swim in, and was a waste of money. We hit rough seas for the first 3 nights, and there were injured passengers, and the cover over the Veranda restaurant was blown-off. I loved the Candles restaurant, but the second time of three times, the steak was horrible and uneatable. When I went back for the third night, the steak was amazing. Don’t bother going to Cuadro 44. The best thing on their menu was the grilled Octopus. I would not recommend any of the Yacht ships operated by Windstar Cruises.

We enjoyed our time on Star Breeze immensely. We were treated like family and the small size of the ship just felt intimate. The captain and his staff were friendly and very informative. Don’t miss the end of cruise staff member show - a real treat.

Bigger is not always better

This trip was amazing. We loved the smaller more personal ship. Staff were the BEST we have ever encountered and food was excellent. They went above and beyond to satisfy everyone. Would definitely sail with Windstar again....despite their frustrating website. Their website was definitely a topic of conversation with other travellers. Didn't meet one person who thought it was user friendly.

Having cruised on both large cruise ships and smaller river cruise ships, our first Windstar cruise was a delightful experience. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful, our accommodations were spacious and we met and befriended several couples.

Excellent cruise aboard the Windstar ship, Star Breeze. We had an excellent experience. Service and food was top notch. Both specialty restaurants were very good. This was our first “small” boat and we loved it. The opportunity to mingle and meet people is very different than a mega ship. The excursions offered covered a range of options and the Lagoon tour in Bora Bora and w-bike adventure on Huanine were highlights. I highly recommend this cruise.

Nice ship. Well appointed. Small size but very personable. No big line ups. Crew is absolutely amazing. Your every need is taken care of. Excursions are on the expensive side. Highly recommended. Will sail with them again!

    Sustainability

    Our Commitment

    CRUISING INTO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

As a small-ship cruise line with wind-powered ships, Windstar is already ahead of the curve on sustainability. With no more than 342 guests, our yachts have less impact on the environment and the communities we visit. Still, we continually assess and improve our environmental practices to make the planet cleaner and greener. Some initiatives are large, like replacing engines with more efficient ones. And some may seem small, like polishing our propellers twice a year for peak efficiency. But when it comes to protecting the world’s natural surroundings, even small changes add up.

We're working hard every day to reduce our use of fossil fuels, keep trash our of landfills and leave the ocean better than we found it. Being gentle on the environment can also mean changing what you eat, since a plant-based diet saves water and reduces greenhouse gas. For those who favor vegan meals, we now offer a plant-based, gluten-free menu prepared without added salt, oil or sugar. We have partnered with the National Health Association (NHA) to create offerings that are both nutritious and delicious and are excited to add these to our standard and vegetarian menu choices.

WE MAY NOT BE BIG, BUT WE CAN STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

In the overall scheme of things our efforts to protect the planet may not make waves, but we believe every ripple counts.
