The Windstar experience is unique and the itinerary (Baltic) was exceptional. Service is very good - however, pre-cruise communications were not all that clear (i.e., where the ship would embark), and communications about timing and logistics for some excursions were sometimes confusing. We would get different messages from different staff when we'd try to gain clarity. But overall, it was an exceptional experience and I would recommend that anyone try Windstar at least once.

The entire trip was perfection. The arrangements were spot on, the ship itself was a perfect size. Everything that marketed to us was accurate. Staff was very accommodating and by day two, knew our names, likes and dislikes. I can't even come up with a suggestion for improvement. We are taking another trip in March!

This is my third voyage on a Windstar ship, my first on the Windstar. The staff is extraordinarily professional and within minutes know who you are and call you by name. They make you feel welcome and pampered. The Greek Isles cruise (my latest) from Athens to Istanbul was extraordinary. I love traveling on Windstar and will go on another voyage with them next year. Now just to decide which one!

The itinerary for the Windstar cruise is amazing! The ship sails to all the most beautiful places and really gives you a complete sample of the best of Greece. The best stop was in Kusadasi, Turkey. The discovery event dinner in Ephesus at the Library of Celsus was an extraordinary event! The evening was beautiful and a highlight of the cruise. The staff on board was outstanding. Everyone was attentive and eager to please.

Food, atmosphere, entertainment, cabin all fantastic! All on board personnel were friendly, professional and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure passengers didn't want for anything and that we all had a memorable vacation. One disappointment was the sail away, the sails and the sound system were definitely experiencing problems. My husband and I first experienced the sail away in Tahiti on board the Wind Spirit, it was unforgettable, emotional, and something we talked about for months afterwards. There was not a night we weren't up top to sail away from Port and enjoy the unfurling of sails to dramatic music, one word "goosebumps". Unfortunately we did not have the same experience aboard the Wind Star which was truly disappointing since we brought friends along to share the experience with. Our hope is that WindStar Cruises recognizes the importance of their signature sail away and works towards ensuring it is never a disappointment to their passengers.

this was our second trip on Wind Star. We completely enjoyed the ship and the service. Everyone was gracious and took care of our every need. The only comment we have that might be considered 'negative' is the music in the lounge was a bit loud and prohibited much chatter among passengers. We LOVE music and like loud music, but when you go in to get to know fellow passengers, but can't hear each other, it's a bit of a let down! Other than that, it was great!

Excellent! The cabins were very comfortable. The staff was helpful and accommodating our specific needs and requests. The on board activities were good, allowing ample free time to rest, meet other people, and sight see. The weather was perfect, and we were really happy that we experienced no seasickness at all, even when the waves were a little rough during some night sailing. The food was outstanding and we appreciated the smaller portions, since there is always so much tasty food and a wide variety available for the asking.

We've sailed on Windstar many times. While cruising from Portugal to Barbados may not be for everyone, it is for us. We love the relaxed atmosphere. The crew on Windstar has always been exceptional as well as their cuisine. We meet many of the same travelers from previous crossings. There was a lot of maintenance being done aboard ship - more than in any other years, but that wasn't a problem. We did miss the lack of sailing due to hydraulic problems. otherwise it was a throughly enjoyable trip.

A disappointing sail.

Reviewed on: 21 Nov 2017

Too many organizational and manageable details fell short of our many (approx 15) past experiences with WindStar cruise lines. The staff were all very friendly and personable as always (and the room clean), but the staff appeared to lack oversight by management. The deck was not well managed. Chairs and tables and dishes left in disarray for hours. No visible supervisors walking out and about talking to passengers. Passengers inconvenienced by workmen without explanation or advisement in advance. The flying bridge off limits and a sail out of commission for the whole trip. WII bowling playing on the big screen during the before dinner entertainment, or, no sound system offering like music when the musicians didn't play. No complimentary deck bags offered, so passengers were carrying books, etc., around in laundry bags. A "cattle call" at embarkation with 3 ships using the same security screening lanes. Just a few of the noticeable changes on this line.

Our time aboard the Wind Star was terrific. Our cabin was terrific, always kept clean, and the attendants for the cabin and all the meals were just fabulous young men. They were gracious and helpful. All the planned activities were interesting aboard. The food was better than we expected. Healthy and fabulous! Only negative is that the white wine selection was pretty terrible and did not taste good, at least from what I can get in Connecticut.

We had a wonderful time on the Windstar. The crew were fantastic and the food was terrific. Unfortunately the ship has no elevator and the higher price cabins are on the lowest level which means lots of stairs. In addition, the lowest level is near the engine room and the noise interferes with sleep. I would highly recommend the cruise company, just not this ship.

Sail Away Winter

Wind Star delighted us on our first "small" ship cruise. The small cabin surprised us with more than enough room to store all our possessions . The food on board was excellent and the dining-on-deck option was deliciously memorable. The crew is very attentive and makes the trip seem like a cruise on your own yacht. The ports and shore excursions were of limited interest and value, and struggled to make a 4 hr excursion hold your attention beyond 1 hour. This wasn't the ship's fault but the nature of the venue . On board entertainment elements were all present but minimal. Our only disappointment was the ship never sailed. The "sail away" was a partial unfurl event designed only to sell drinks.

This was our first Windstar cruise and the 6 friends that went with us. Based on the size of the ship you feel like you know everybody and the staff certainly knows you. The food was absolutely incredible. They have James Beard chef submitted recipes on the menu each night and they do no disappoint. The staff service is over the top. The pool area is an afterthought so if a pool is your thing then you will be disappointed in that amenity. We enjoyed ourselves and would do it again.

We have been in this ship once before in 2011. It’s such a beautiful ship and a lot prettier now that is was renovated. It’s a laid back do as you want vibe. The service is so wonderful and the staff tries so hard to make your trip great. I was not expecting the food to be so wonderful either having been a on a few other cruises, the food is usually good but not great. Loved it. The dining under the stars was magical and the deck barbecue was a blast. Crew talent show had us rolling in the isles. Great times were had by all. This was the 1st Windstar cruise for my daughter, son and son in law and I we can’t wait to go it again. They only negative is the wine selection. I was in the wine distribution business and my daughter and son in law work at wineries in the Napa Valley. The wines could be so improved if the had wines from the regions we were visiting. Croatia and Italy have fabulous wines and we are always wanting to try new things. Glad we could use corkage opti

We were not pleased with our recent cruise on the Windstar. The trip started out bad when we got to our stateroom and the room smelled like acrylic. They must have recently put an acrylic coat on the wood in the room. They eventually moved us to another room because of the odor. That also happened in one of the large gathering rooms where they also put acrylic on the wood during the trip and during a day st sea... the Windstar is a small boat and closing a room for the day was hard with all the people aboard looking for a place to go. The small dining room was way too small for the amount of people, always a line to eat and we felt rushed to give up our table to all the people waiting. The trip was a trip from hell weatherwise! The boat went through 80 MPH winds and 25-30 foot waves. Horrible! They should have known the awful weather and stayed in the previous port an extra day! Very Scarry!! The mattresses were old and uncomfortable and definitely need to be replaced.

This was my fourth cruise with Windstar and it certainly won't be my last as they are incredible. On this cruise there were a lot of weather issues and from the Captain down the officers were constantly advising the guests as to how all issues were being handled and our safety was their utmost concern. I loved every minute of it!! It became an adventure with new ports to be explored that were not on the itinerary which made it even more fun. The entire crew need to be commended for making the adventure so enjoyable with no problems to the guests. GO WINDSTAR!!!!
