Truly a wonderful trip to the Baltic region. Crew and staff were courteous and eager to assist. Dinning in the Specialty Restaurants was an experience I would certainly encourage you to try. Our Suite was exquisite as were some of the special wines at the wine bar. Princess tours were wonderful and I would encourage you to try as many as you can.

Parking was great, boarding was slow.  We were told there were computer problems.  Luggage was in the room.  Steward was not very friendly and one day was very rude to my wife.  His "boss" apologized.  Made for an uncomfortable trip.  "Anytime Dining" was not as advertised because we were only two people.  We were on our Anniversary cruise and wanted to dine alone so we had to wait for tables.  The Dining Room was very nice and the waiters terrific.  Breakfast and lunch at the buffet was wonderful with great staff.  The "Crown Steakhouse" was not worth the money and my veal chop was overcooked and tough.  One show was terrific, the rest not so good. Zumba and it's instructor were excellent.  Spa was good.  Music on the decks was too loud and would appeal to a younger crowd of which there were not many.  Alan and the platinum photography session was fantastic.  disembarking was fast, smooth and wonderful.

The food and the service at Sabatini's and the Crown Grill was excellent. The food at the buffet was not good at all.

This was our first cruise, so we had no pre-conceptions. The ship seemed well organized, safe, clean, and well-maintained compared to hotels. Crown Princess staff seemed to take the prevention of illness through food contamination very seriously. The normal food was excellent and fresh compared to restaurants. The extra charge meal at Sabatinis was superb. The extra charge meal in the Crown grill was also excellent. The wines we ordered on ship were excellent and reasonably priced. The staff was professional, approachable, always friendly. The manner in which the ship approached the glaciers in Alaska and made a 720-degree turn allowed everyone a proper view of natures wonder. We will choose Princess again.

The dining staff in particular were fantastic. We had anytime dining but made reservations for 6 guests every evening. Although we couldn't request a particular table, when we got to the dining room the Head waiter always made sure we got the table we wanted. The Waitress for table 463 in the Da Vinci dining room was wonderful. Almira was attentive, prompt and very pleasant. The head waiter Silvio made a point to come and talk to us at the table every evening. He even stopped at our table in the mornings on the Lido Buffet. He made recommendations for dishes and even gave us some of his special recipes from Italy. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Although our cruise was pleasant, the ship is in need of some updating and repairs. The dining areas had very low ceilings and very few Windows to enjoy the view. Elevators are too small for the number of people and were not always working. Bathrooms in the public areas near the main theatre only have a few stalls to handle the hoards of women leaving the theatre. Cabin and bathrooms need updating as they are very outdated. On the plus side, the specialty dining venues were amazing and beautifully decorated.

Crown Princess did an outstanding job on our Alaskan cruise. It was our favorite ship, so far and I had to fight back tears when we were departing from the ship. The crew works so hard, the food was excellent. I would say the only concern would be that our 20 year old really didn't fall into any group of activities, for his age. He was too young to do the adult things, and he was too old to be involved in the teen activities. He still had a wonderful time, but was left out of certain fun things. Next time he'll be an adult! :) Looking to go back next summer!!

Only our second Princess cruise out of many cruises. The food was a major disappointment. Dining room food was hit and miss. Horizon Court food was average to poor with too much repetition. Our dining room waiter and room steward were outstanding. Beyond them, the staff were not overly friendly and certainly didn't make us feel welcomed. Their wine program was a joke since they were out of many bottles early in the cruise and it only got worse. In spite of that they kept selling the wine bottle packages. But when you went to order you very limited in the selection unless you wanted to pay an up charge for something available and not covered by the package. Can you say "bait and switch"?

The ship is clean and very well maintained. The crew do their best to provide quality service. Getting on and off the ship is seamless and very well executed - even with excursions. Entertainment at night is enjoyable , but why must every cruise have a lousy comic/magician? It just gets old! The production company is outstanding - more of them would be preferred. My main criticism is the lack of activities during sea days. Lectures would be interesting along with classes in something other than origami. I get so tired of seeing items for sale constantly. Even the galley tour ended in an area with tables covered with discount clothing. It was disgusting!

The time was nice, but the ship seemed a little bit old. The Captain was one of the best and the most friendly, but people got sick on board. I found the shows a little dissapointing and the local tours were a little bid hurried considering that the majority of the passengers are experiencing of the Golden Years. For example we had booked the excursion going to Salem, Mass. and I did not read the bottom part of the ticket. I onlly went by the fact that the bus would leave at 8.00. We were there 10 minutes before 8 and the bus was gone. I thought that the tour coordinator handled this very poorly even knowing that two people were missing. I think that one option would have been to take a taxi to meet with the tour, an expense that we would have incurred gladly. Instead we were stuck with the "Duck tour" that barely covered the city of Boston. Two days later there was an excursion to Jamestown and this time there were three buses and the bus left at least 10-15 minutes later.

By: CarolQ

Reviewed on: 25 Apr 2018

The ship was just out of dry-dock and could have stayed for another week but I'm glad they didn't keep her there as we'd not be crossing the Atlantic if they did. While we were aboard, the crew was continuing with upgrades such as new carpeting. The Guest Relations people were helping passengers all the while crew members were laying carpet under their feet. You wouldn't have known it except every once in a while, a head would pop up with old carpeting and take it away. One area going by the theater had really loose-looking carpet and a crew member was vacuuming it and I gave a 'tisk-tisk' because of it but the next day it was flat and even, he had just laid it down - unsewn when I first saw it. The two new shows, 'Magic to Do' and 'Encore' were outstanding. Magic to Do was like Cirque du Soleil and 'Encore' was all singing - everyone wore mics, including the dancers and they all sang - so very nice. I cannot lavish enough praise about these shows. Food was great with lots of seafood.

This just happened to be the very first same ship my wife and I sailed on in the Eastern Caribbean many years ago. So it was very nostalgic sitting at the same bar (Crooners) and eating at the same restaurants and cafes on the ship. There were always more activities than you could possibly do, and choosing which ones to do became a daily activity. That's not even counting the days we planned excursions in the ports of call. My favorite activity was waking in the morning, throwing open the curtains and marveling at the view of a different port each day. On sea days (when there was no port of call) we explored the ship and the ladies booked spa days. The shops (and there were plenty) were only open during sea days and when the ship was underway so there was plenty to do (not to mention the sales of 50 to 75% percent off retail prices).

The captain on the ship did an excellent job of keeping the crew and passengers safe during a number of different events. He did a spectacular job up keeping every person informed as to what was going on and his reasoning for decisions that he made. You could not ask for more with the level of communications. Our room steward Ethel was also amazing. She kept our room perfect. Sometimes we would only be out of the room for 20 minutes come back and it would look new. Out of all of our cruises this was probably the best room Stewart we have ever had. With this being said the rest of it was downhill. Crew was not very friendly or helpful. Construction going on throughout the ship. Carpet in state rooms being replaced, the medallion system being installed so it was very disruptive to the passengers. The international cafe was also disrupted because of the construction. You had to go to the opposite side of the ship to get coffee. Worst princess ship we have ever been on.

Would suggest that the audience be notified when the show was about to begin, therefore getting people seated and not having to walk in the dark. Ushers should show people to seats after the show begins. The ship, for us, was too big and too many people. It would have been nice to have some more cultural and intellectual programs during the day. Our cabins were pleasant-kudos to Ishmael who kept everything very clean--to Ricky and Dulce who provided excellent dinner service. The ship looked "tired."--paint was needed in many place, especially the balconies- our sofa in the sitting area was dusty--- All in all, it was enjoyable but we would not go on a ship carrying more than 1000 passengers again.

Shows were not quite up to what we have had on other Princess cruises, and sound system needed some work. Shore excursions were very informative and gave us an insight into each country. Medallion worked very well, got you on and off the ship quickly. Loved having the cabin door unlock as soon as we walked up. Looked a little "shop worn" in places and needed some down time to have maintenance done. Laundromats need to be expanded. On a long cruise such as this, people need to wash some clothes but only two machines per deck is nowhere close to enough as the lines were awful and we had people from other decks adding to the congestion. all in all it was a very enjoyable cruise.

Disappointed in getting correct time for church services. Four different couples were given 4 different times. All asked sho office to verify /confirm and we were given the wrong time. It prevents us from booking a Princess tour that day and it ended up taking 4 hours out of our day.

Crown princess is showing it's age

Our time aboard the ship was very good. We did miss two ports due to weather conditions, but that could not be helped. I have 2 negative things to say about Princess cruises and the Crown Princess. I think the entertainment on the two cruises was sub-par...no big production shows in the theatre, just the same old trivia contests and other games. With the number of sea days on the cruises, I expected better entertainment. And the Crown interiors looked very tired.

The Crown is showing its age. The Captain's Circle Representative needs training in public relations. She was more interested in blaming other crew members for problems than stepping up an solving a situation.

CROWN PRINCESS: Overall I enjoyed the ship and the daily programming. The horizon cafe looked like it could use a bit of a makeover, particularly the very worn carpet. However. The food was quite good. All staff were pleasant and efficient. I did not enjoy all the theatre programs.....I feel that more effort needs to be put into that.

February cruise to Caribbean

The ship had generator problems that Princess only told us about after they had our non refundable total payment. They needed to reduce speed, have shorter times in all ports and eliminate one port Since they didn’t have all generators working they allocated where AND when there was adequate air conditioning. It was poor at nights in our room but cold in the morning. With almost 300 days on Princess this was the worst for short and bad times docking for port visits. They refused to organize shuttle service for handicap people from ship to dock on Saint Thomas and since we were third ship getting there into port we were last on long pier due to ship sailing at 18 knots instead of normal 22 or so! This was poor and they keep delaying ship generator and dry docks for months out- cheap and not customer oriented. The $75.00 port fee refund for port elimination was not sufficient for the other issues of low power!

Any cruise can be a bust or a wonder, depending on your outlook. Was our cruise perfect? No. But we made the most of it and enjoyed ourselves. The seas were a little rough, so some of our shipmates were a little green around the gills. But we thoroughly enjoyed our times in port and the crew were stupendous. Thank you Princess for another great vacation
