We enjoyed the Seabourn Odyssey very much. The food and the staff were outstanding. Seabourn is extremely hospitable and they do an amazing job with embarkation and disembarkation. My only negative would be that the bed was too hard for me and I realize this is a personal preference but the beds on Holland America were much more comfortable to me. Overall, everything was great!

We love Seabourn

By: Missy

Our first trip on the Odyssey, and we weren't sure we'd love it as much as we did the beautiful Pride, which we had sailed on several times before...but we did! Going from 200 passengers to 450 made us wonder if it would be harder to find ourselves on the ship...but we soon figured out the easy layout and were happy to discover the same Seabourn friendliness among passengers and crew, with great service and wonderful dining options...and many opportunities to meet lots of interesting people from so many different places! The itinerary was great (Singapore to Singapore, with Myanmar as the highlight for us!) and the weather was perfect...most of the ports were well worth the visit (Malacca was a bit s disappointing.. its colorful history no longer visible as a hub of the ancient Spice Route...) and Myanmar and an overnight excursion to Bagan (the valley of 2220 ancient temples) was an absolute delight! As always, we hated to leave the ship - our happy home for 14 days!

Exceptional, attentive service from boarding to disembarkation. Ship has huge space to guest ratio so you never feel crowded. Spa facilities are world-class. Suites are huge. Every detail from beverage preferences to suite prep is looked to and the personal touch - the staff invariably address you by name even as you board. Even if the ship wasn't as nice as it is - I think many Seabourn passengers would still sign on - because of the crew!

Seabourn is a great cruise line that we've used before, however, we didn't think the food quality was as good as our last Seabourn cruise on the Odyssey (Black Sea). Also, this cruise had ports of call that were not worth getting off the ship for. I would not recommend this particular cruise to anyone. Service quality aboard remained first rate.

Good with a few exceptions. We cruised on the Legend and Pride before they were sold (You should remove them from the list.) to Windstar. The service was better on the smaller ships. One bad actor was named Martin. He was the one who managed the tours and did a very poor job of it. There were no signs directing us to the busses and no number on the busses. He was frequently out of sight and not doing his job. The sound system should be upgraded or properly operated.

Where's the Food?

By: Steamboat Bill

Reviewed on: 27 Jun 2017

This is the first ship we have traveled on where there was no hot food available at any public venue from 4 pm to 7 pm and after 9 pm. The only was to get hot food at those hours was to order room service, which took about 30 minutes (probably because every other passenger was doing the same). While the food was very good it was no fun eating lukewarm food alone in our cabin.

Our most previous sailing on Seabourn was #9 with this cruise line. We can not say enough about the service, suites, dining and the ship itself. The Thomas Keller Grill was new for us and it was a fantastic dining experience each time.

Seabourn is still my favorite cruise line. We saw many crew members and passengers from past sailings, so it's like coming home. Our penthouse suite was wonderful. There have been subtle changes however and not all for the best. I felt the ship was a bit understaffed and service sometimes suffered. That said, everyone was friendly, glad to see you, addressed you by name, and generally service was excellent. I felt the menu repeated too much during the 26 days, but that have just been me. Some A+ meals, but more B+, breakfast was always great.

Not as good as before

By: John

Reviewed on: 13 Feb 2018

Apparently Seaborn has taken the best of the staff from the three smaller ships and move them to the new bigger ships. Therefore we found many new and inexperienced crew. The service was not as good as in the past in the dining room. The food in the main dining room was not to the quality that we had experience in the past. There were crew that we had sailed with before who were wonderful but Seaborn should understand all passengers should get great service no matter what ship they are on. We enjoyed the dinners in the Thomas Keller’s Grill.

Maybe still the best, but not like the "old days."

Reviewed on: 26 Feb 2018

Seabourn is clearly the best of all cruise lines, but they are admittedly not as attentive as they were 20+ years ago. Some of the crew learned our names, several invited us to their tables at dinners, and all were helpful whenever my husband got "lost" (he would sometimes just leave to take a nap!). The food is quite good, but not always great. The shore adventures were fun and well organized, and the onboard parties were lively. The average age of the travelers on these ships is clearly elderly, and there are no real activities planned for kids, but we did not want a bunch of kids on our ship! All but the most premium wines were included, but they did have some really good ones (ask the sommelier). As always, we wanted to take our stewardess home with us. Somehow, this was the roughest cruise I recall having, but there were some heavy winds, apparently. No seasickness, tho. Yes, they could use more self service washers and dryers and we would enjoy more informative lectures, perhaps,

Our two weeks aboard the Odyssey was wonderful despite a significant itinerary change related to the hurricane. The best cruise line

I love this cruise line. The staff, the service, the food, and even the other travelers are all top of the line. Being on board is a total experience from the first. I have always felt like every passenger mattered as if they were the only ones on the ship. Every crew member was polite, many greeting me by name. If anything was not up to par, it was rectified as quickly as possible. The food and service was superb...never too much...but always enough. And as for my fellow travelers, Seabourn consistently attracts people who are interesting and who have a story. It makes meeting them and sharing time together one of the highlights of a voyage.

Loved it . Beautifully appointed ship and the standard of food and service were generally very good. Maybe not the very best suite attendant but that is a very small quibble. The itinerary was perfect with a great choice of destinations. We have sailed with Seabourn before but this cruise was the best. It certainly compared very favourably with Silver Spirit which we cruised on a month before in the Indian Ocean : very tired décor and service standards not what they were.

Outstanding. Only suggestion I would make is to let passengers know the night before if the first tenders off the ship are reserved for excursion passengers only. In Santorini, they made the announcement that the tenders were running but when we got down there we had to wait 90 minutes for excursion passengers to go first. Had we known this the night before it would have been fine. We would have stayed in our suite and relaxed.

Our Greek cruise

Reviewed on: 03 Oct 2018

The ship was wonderful. Service was excellent as were the excursions. The only complaints with the entire cruise was the the internet/Wi-Fi service onboard was expensive and very slow. Minutes bought often disappeared through the night. Secondly, and this is no fault of Seabourn's, Santorini was a mess. Four other large ships (greater than 2,000 passengers each) and one other smaller ship were anchored in Santorini at the same time we were. The crowds were horrific. There were only 2 options to descend from Fira to the docks where the tenders operated from. One was walking for 30 minutes down a very slippery path covered with donkey feces. The other option was waiting up to 4 hours in line to ride down a cable car that only took 36 passengers per trip. I recommend Seabourn do everything possible to not put in at Santorini when more than one or two other cruise ships are anchored there. Perhaps they can change the itinerary to dock on a different day.
