I had never heard of AMA Waterways beofre this trip.  We were truly impressed everything is five star from the hotels, guides, and tours.  They are very well organized and extremely well run.  No glitches, no surprises, we were able to relax and enjoy our wonderful adventure.

Hard to call this a cruise "ship". Only 14 cabins, and ours was beautiful. Wonderful food and service. We loved our 4 days on the Chobe River on it.

Great time.

An excellent and very different cruise compared to other Ama and equivalent river cruises in other parts of the world. The critical objective for this cruise is a specialized river safari - unique to Africa and in this respect, the Zambezi Queen river cruise is excellent. The passengers see animal situations on the Chobe River, between Botswana and Namibia which are not duplicated elsewhere in Africa in both quantity of animals and animal situations in and out of the water. Excellent service, food and authentic African hospitality is the norm for the Zambezi Queen.

Zambezi Queen, Unlike Anything Else

Our three nights and days aboard the Zambezi Queen we’re comfortable. The ship’s facilities and staff were first rate. The ship provided a wonderful home base for the numerous land and small boat safaris each morning and afternoon. These boat guides were knowledgeable and always concerned for our comfort and safety. We saw lions, crocodiles, hippos, cape buffaloes, elephants, baboons, giraffes and beautiful birds of all kinds. Our visit to an African village was eye-opening, yet enjoyable. We were happy to learn of AMAWATERWAYS’ support of the village by providing a water tank and supporting plumbing to provide clean water to the people of the village. Three people from this village work on the Zambezi Queen.

Every aspect of our trip on the Zambezi Queen was top-notch, including the staff, the accommodations, the food and drink and the numerous excursions. It was really fun and different to be on a trip like this with fewer than 30 guests. My only regret is that is missed the birding expeditions! The fishing was great, even though we only caught two Tiger Fish. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife both on the river and on a safari tour.

The Zambezi Queen was one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. The boat was clean, the staff were helpful and experienced, the food was great. The water safaris were so much more than I expected. The range of animals that we saw was huge. We were able to get very close to the animals without scaring them, so we really got to see every detail.
