About Me
My name is Martha Garmon and I love to travel. I have been traveling most of my life. As a child, our family traveled to Mexico frequently. As a teenager, my parents booked the family on a sailing vacation among the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. A couple of years later we sailed around the islands in Belize as well as spent time in Aruba and Antigua.
When I met my late husband, we were both still working, but we saved our funds to travel when we could. Those trips included cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico, the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Alaska, and Italy (our all-time favorite!)
When my husband became sick, I retired and we did road trips since it was what he could do. I treasured those memories when he died. COVID made travel a little more complicated, but as soon as it was possible, I started traveling with friends to Costa Rica, Christmas Markets in Germany, as well as New Zealand and Fiji.
When I met and married Robert, my current husband, I convinced him to retire and join me on my travels. In the last few years we have taken trips to France, including the Paris Olympics, cooking classes in Italy, two trips to learn about tequila in Tequila, Mexico, cruises to Greece and Turkey, Spain, and Portugal, as well as a transatlantic cruise. I also continue to travel with friends and took a cruise around the UK. I have ancestry linking to Scotland and even made plans to visit areas where my ancestors lived and see the clan castle dating back to the 1200s.
My travel style is unique and immersive. I prefer experiences that are not generic and provide insight into how the locals live. Even when on a cruise, I look for shore excursions that are not the typical tourist fare. I am especially focused on the food and drinks of a region, so love to find cooking classes, tours of wineries, breweries, and distilleries.
After planning a group trip to Italy this year, I realized that I had all the skills and experience to do this professionally so, I joined Fora Travel as an independent consultant and now make my expertise available to others.
Let me help you plan your next adventure so you can start making the memories of a lifetime.
