My career as a software developer and then sales and marketing director for a small software company with global reach gave me opportunities to travel extensively in Asia, Europe and South America. Working with our global sales representatives had the added benefit of having local "tour guides", showing me their cities and inviting me into their homes. While I have always loved to travel, these experiences have encouraged me to try and immerse in the local culture and cuisine on my personal trips.
