Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, travel has always been central to Katie's life. From island hopping between neighbor islands to overseas travel visiting family on the "mainland," and abroad, her childhood travels ignited a lifelong passion for exploration and cultural immersion. After graduating from SMU in Dallas, Katie spent a decade in Los Angeles working in event production, which took her across North America and Europe coordinating experiences and events. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to launch Float Naked, a luxury pool float company, before returning full circle to Dallas where she is now based. Katie's meticulous attention to detail and passion for research—her curated hotel and restaurant lists know no bounds—naturally led her to Local Foreigner. Here, she channels her expertise in crafting bespoke, immersive travel experiences that connect clients with authentic local cultures while maintaining the highest standards of service.
