Kathy Nicholas has always had a passion for travel. She has visited many different European locations, including river cruising, Western Canada, Japan, and extensively in the United States and the Caribbean. Kathy’s top two favorite places to visit is Bermuda and Ireland.

Her travel career started in 1992 when Kathy and her husband Chris opened their travel agency, Grand Destinations in Chesapeake, VA. After growing the business to a staff of 13 and an annual business of over $9 million, the business was successfully sold in 2006.

Kathy then started a business consulting firm until getting back into travel in the spring of 2009 as an independent travel consultant when she established Southport Travel.

Kathy’s background prior to travel includes a degree in accounting, Registrar, Director of Financial Aid, office management, and accounting positions. Her “attention to detail” background has given Kathy the ability to turn a vacation into an unforgettable experience.
