About Me
I've always had a love of travel and adventure. I grew up traveling around the United States with my family. We'd often travel on back roads to places off the beaten path, which is where, I suppose, I get my adventurous spirit. As an adult, I traveled extensively, often taking long trips, driving through Europe, or the Andes in South America with my wife. There is nothing like seeing the world through an open window. Just like when I was growing up, driving allowed me to visit places I otherwise would not, places that aren't on the typical tourist map. How many people can say they've driven into the middle of one of the driest places on earth, the Atacama desert in Peru, to see flocks of pink flamingos? Or gone spelunking in the Belizean rainforest to discover ancient Mayan relics? That love of travel and adventure has taken me from the heights of Machu Pichu, to the depths of the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, scuba diving among sunken ships, sharks, rays, and a myriad of tropical fish.
My interest in travel has always complemented my love of history. And, I suppose, vice versa. I earned a PhD in United States History and World Historical Theory. Nothing brings history alive more than being in the place you've studied or read about. During my studies I was fortunate to travel throughout Greece for five weeks studying ancient Greek history and literature.
I've been fortunate to have traveled extensively and been able to share my adventures with my wife, children, family, and friends.
