About Me
I began my career in 1986, with one of the first companies going into China – a destination I’d always had a keen interest in. I traveled extensively in China throughout the '80s and '90s escorting group tours, In later years I personaly traveled, and sold travel throughout Asia: Viet Nam, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan and beyond.
My being a foodie and a history buff led to my specializing in culinary travel. In 2013, I founded the boutique-sized company Forks on the Road, based in Boston Our mantra? Discover a country through its cuisine. Working with in-destination colleagues and vendors, I design itineraries for custom groups and individuals. My clients enjoy curated culinary experiences like market, farm, and winery visits, cooking lessons and exploring cities on walking and tasting tours. Dining can range from food stalls and seaside fish shacks to Michelin star restaurants. Iconic sight-seeing and culture activities are always included and enhance the itinerary.
No surprise, Italy is our most requested destination, with France a close second. But so many other countries—Spain, Portugal, India, South Africa are eager to introduce their cuisine and foodways. Most recently, we've discovered the culinary side of Morocco combined with its exotic culture and delicious Croatia. I also love planning delicious city stays in 4 and 5 star hotels in the good ol’ USA. My grandchildren have inspired me to take a new look at family and multi-generational vacations, particularly those that include edible experiences.
I make my home in Boston. This well-worth-a-visit historical city is also the gateway to New England. Here, Instagram-worthy towns offer charming inns and 5 star resorts and spas. Its stunning coastline includes Cape Cod’s National Seashore, and the legendary—and romantic— rocky coast of Maine. Pick a season. I’d love to tell you more including where to get the best lobster roll!
My favorite islands include St. Barth, and in my 30+ visits, I’ve come to know it intimately. I can book you a bragging-rights villa with concierge service, or a seaside 5 star hotel, and provide you with a list of restaurant recommendations. Ask me about their annual Gourmet Festival. My new favorite island? Croatia's Korcula.
Like my clients, I enjoy ocean and river cruising – especially on the industry’s luxury ships with their increased focus on food and wines, and for me, one spa vacation a year is a must.
