Day 2
Seward, AK United States

Wildlife Viewing Tour

Kayak Along the Shore Near a Glacier and Fish for Dinner

Their sea kayaks can be adjusted to accommodate one or two people so that everyone can comfortably explore. Take a morning paddle in a calm anchorage or glide along shore near a glacier. This is always a favorite activity! Later in the afternoon catch a salmon or rockfish for dinner right from the back deck! If you’re interested in a full fishing charter, they can arrange for a charter fishing boat to pick you up for a day trip.

Day 5
Homer, AK United States

Hotel: Tukta Bay Lodge

Transfer to Homer

Check-in to Tutka Bay Lodge. The lodge sits in a private cove within a rugged 9-mile ancient glacial fjord at the edge of the Kachemak Bay State Park. The main lodge at Tutka Bay is a small intimate building where guests can enjoy pre-dinner appetizers, dine, play games, or explore our National Geographic library and nature nook.

After you settle in, meet with your guides to plan your activities for your stay. Lunch is served in the main lodge at 1:00 PM. After lunch, go for an exploratory sea kayak tour of Tutka Bay looking for sea stars, otters, and other interesting sea life. Appetizers are served at 6:30 PM in the main lodge followed by a three-course dinner. After dinner, join one of our naturalist guides for a wild edible foraging walk through our old-growth Sitka spruce forest.

Day 6

Deep-Sea Fishing Adventure or Bear Viewing Excursion

Fish for salmon and halibut and watch your captain clean and fillet your catch at the dock. Ship it home or take it in to the lodge for the chefs to prepare for you. If you’d rather view bears, board a floatplane with your guide from the lodge dock and fly across Cook Inlet to the Katmai Coast for bear viewing, home to one of the largest concentrations of brown bears in the world. The guides will take you to the best spots to experience these amazing animals in their natural habitat catching salmon, foraging for sedge grass or digging clams along the coast.

Day 7
Homer, AK United States

Hike, Picnic, and Visit an Oyster Farm

Join your guide hiking the trail to Tutka Lake, just a short ten-minute boat ride up the bay. Hike from the coast up to the hidden mountain lake and paddle our canoes around looking for loons and eagles. Continue on the trail to the nearby fish hatchery for a picnic lunch or head back to the lodge. In the late afternoon, join our boat captain for a ride to the neighboring bay and visit an oyster farm. Learn the unique differences in raising oysters and mussels in the cold waters of Alaska and taste them fresh out of the water.

Day 8
Denali National Park, AK United States

Flight From Tutka Bay Directly to the Winterlake Lodge

Check-in to Winterlake Lodge situated in a wilderness setting south of Denali National Park, northwest of Anchorage. Located on the National Historic Iditarod Trail, the lodge is in a fantastic location for an Alaska wilderness vacation. With its remote setting, wellness program, cooking classes, and wine tasting, Winterlake Lodge offers a unique Alaska lodge experience.

Cooking Class with Executive Chef

Check in to your cabin and join your hosts, Kirsten and Carl Dixon, at the main Lodge for a brief orientation to the activities and facilities at the lodge, then plan your days with your guides. In the late afternoon, we offer a cooking class in the kitchen with our executive chef, appetizers and wine tasting in the main lodge bar area, and dinner at 7:00 p.m.

Day 9
Denali National Park, AK United States

Robinson R-44 Helicopter Tour

After breakfast, meet your helicopter pilot and guide for a day-long adventure outing via our Robinson R-44 helicopter. One option, fly to a majestic glacier and take a lesson in dog mushing – Or float down our nearby trophy rainbow trout river for the day. Enjoy Fly-fishing, wildlife viewing, and hiking. In the afternoon, you may like lunch on the river or back at the lodge – your choice.

Day 10
Denali National Park, AK United States

Hotel: Winterlake Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Wolverine Ridge Hike

Go on a leisurely hike to the saddle of Wolverine Ridge or, if you are up for an adventure, trek all the way to the summit for stunning views of Denali, the Tremble and Hayes glaciers and the entire valley.

Day 11

Depart From Winterlake Lodge by Flight to Anchorage

Here you can overnight in Anchorage, depending on the time of your flight, or still extend your stay in Alaska flying to McCarthy.
