It evolved into a military base, and held prisoners of war. Today, the Castle is one of Scotland's most famous Castles and houses the crown jewels, the stone of destiny, and the National War Museum of Scotland. It is also an Edinburgh World Heritage Site.

Take a scenic drive and stop off at the charming fishing villages of East Neuk. Nestled in the neuk, the old Scottish word for corner, of the eastern peninsula of Fife, these towns offer charm, coastline, and heritage. The village of Crail is known for its harbor and shellfish. Anstruther, once a busy fishing port, is known for its fish and chips and is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. St. Monan’s has scenic houses and a harbor, and has the remains of Newark Castle.

Visit St. Andrews Castle, which is situated on a high cliff top and overlooks the sea. The castle was the main residence of the bishops and archbishops and has parts dating from the 13th century. See the infamous bottleneck dungeon, underground passages and learn about those who spent time there.

Visit St. Andrews Cathedral, which founded in 1160 and then consecrated in 1318. The cathedral was by far the largest church in Scotland before its destruction at the reformation. The adjoining Priory was similarly the most important monastic foundation of its time.

Day 4
Pitlochry, United Kingdom

Hotel: Fonab Castle Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Take a drive through the breathtaking scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Pass lochs and glens, as well as flora and fauna, as you enjoy some of Scotland's loveliest views.

From the shelter of The Red Deer Barn, stroke, feed and photograph these magnificent and iconic animals in the company of a knowledgeable Safari Ranger who will tell you about their fascinating life cycle, likes, dislikes, habits and personalities. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get up really close to these magnificent animals.

Travel to Kingussie to visit the Highland Folk Museum, which invites you to enter the world of the Highlander from clansman to crofter. The museum brings to life the domestic and working conditions of earlier Highland peoples where you will learn how they lived, built their homes, tilled the soil, and dressed.

Day 5
Glasgow, United Kingdom

Hotel: Blythswood Square Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Journey through the area surrounding the celebrated Loch Lomond, Scotland's longest loch. It is renowned in song and known for its unsurpassed beauty. The loch is located within Trossach National Park, which was designated by Scottish Parliament in 2002 as one of two national parks.

Embark on cruise of the loch so you can see wonderful views, such as the many islands. One of the islands is the burial place of the Chiefs of the Clan MacGregor.

The picturesque conservation village of Luss is situated on the western shore of Loch Lomond. A settlement has stood on this site since medieval times although much of the current village dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. With its prim, identical sandstone and slate cottages garlanded in rambling roses, and its narrow sandy, pebbly strand, the village offers a perfect stopping-off point when exploring the area.

Enjoy Glasgow at leisure. Glasgow is famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy of the city's 18th–20th-century prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. Today it's a national cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as acclaimed museums and a thriving music scene. You may choose to visit the Gallery of Modern Art which is housed in the former townhouse of a wealthy tobacco merchant. You may also like to visit The Willow Tearoom which was established by Kate Cranston in 1903. You could also make your way to George Square, which is an Outlander filming sight. Glasgow is also a shopper’s paradise with over 1,500 stores located within the city.
