A Bespoke Journey to Jordan (9 days)

Welcome to Jordan! Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you are met and assisted through arrival formalities by a Ker & Downey representative. You are then escorted to your driver and vehicle for transfer to your hotel and assisted with check-in.

This morning you will meet your guide for your first exploration in Jordan. Tour the downtown area of Amman, visiting many of its marvelous museums and historic sites, including the Archeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, the open-air museum of the Citadel, and the Blue Mosque.Continue into the Eastern Desert to visit famous fortresses: Al Kharraneh Castle, UNESCO-listed Amra Castle, and Al Azraq Castle where Lawrence of Arabia resided.

Today you will go back in time at two ancient sites: the city of Jerash and Ajloun Castle. Jerash is known as one of the important and best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Drive to Ajloun and visit the Crusades-era castle built to defend against Crusader armies.

After breakfast you will meet your guide and begin the drive to Petra. En route to Petra stop at Madaba to view the Madaba Map and the many preserved Byzantine mosaics. You will also stop at Mount Nebo, the site of Moses's burial. End the day arriving at your hotel in Petra. Located directly at the entrance to the historical Nabatean city of Petra, the luxurious Movenpick Resort Petra is renowned for its intricate Arabesque interior design and collection of antiquities and artwork.This evening venture into the city for your first glimpse at the site, illuminated by hundreds of candles.

Today you have the full day to explore Petra in-depth. As the hidden valley opens before you, you will see the Nabatean city carved into the rock. Marvel at the incredible multi-hued sandstone tombs, temples, and the amphitheater. Sturdy footwear is recommended for normally fit persons who choose to climb the sides of the valley for a different perspective of the ancient city.

This evening, enjoy a private dinner at Siq al Barid (Little Petra), the northern outpost of the Nabatean capital.

Depart Petra with your guide and stop for a visit to Little Petra during the day. Next, head south to Wadi Rum in a four-wheel-drive vehicle with a Bedouin driver. Set off over the dunes to see ancient rock carvings and sites from Lawrence of Arabia’s experiences. End the day in your far-flung Bedouin camp with a magical traditional dinner by campfire.

Experience Jordan's largest wadi in exclusive privacy and comfort.
