Palma is one of the great cities of the Mediterranean. From here continue to the Palace of the Almudaina, dating back to Arab times and today the official residence of the King when he is in Mallorca. While strolling in the city, why not stop in one of the marvellous traditional patisseries, to enjoy an "ensaimada". Away from the centre of the city is the remarkable circular Castell de Bellver. Built in the Middle Ages, it was the city's principal defence, later it became a prison and today is a museum with spectacular views over the port and out to sea
