On this tour, You will see the Dubrovnik locations used in the hit TV series ‘Game of Thrones’. You will climb the city walls, picturing the bloody battles from the TV series, and visit Lovrijenac Fortress to learn about the evil exploits of King Joffrey. Follow in the footsteps of Arya Stark and hear insider gossip galore about the popular series. See the sights of King’s Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms.
Your day will start with visiting the Arboretum early in the morning. This magical botanical garden doubles up as the beautiful gardens of King’s landing and is one of the major filming locations of the Game of Thrones TV show. These are the gardens where main protagonists weave their plots and exchange secrets at King's Landing. Next step is return to the city, on Pile gate for tour of the city. Several scenes have been filmed at Pile Bay. This is where the Lannisters bid farewell to Myrcella and that is also where Sansa Stark and Shae watch the ships before Lord Baelish discusses escape plans with Sansa at the end of the jetty. One of the most disturbing scenes from season two also occurred at Pile Bay, the killing of Robert Baratheon’s bastards.
The base of Minceta Tower was used as the exterior of House of Undying in the town of Qarth. It is the place where Daenerys Targaryen walks around trying to find the entrance into the House of Undying looking for her stolen dragons in season two.
Fort Lovrijenac doubles as the Red Keep in King’s Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. Lots of the scenes are filmed at this Fort including the tournament thrown in honor of King Joffrey’s name day in season two. In old town roofs with orange terracotta tiles, impressive stone and wild seas, it seemed perfect posing as King's Landing with high-rising cliffs and a stunning ancient city wall overlooking the Adriatic sea (ie. Blackwater Bay in the series).
The outer walls of Dubrovnik look as if they were built for this TV show. After visiting Lovrijenac fortress and city tour (including the walls) You will continue towards Lokrum with a public boat. The Game of Thrones production team used the island of Lokrum as a stand-in for the city of Qarth near the Jade Sea, which is visited by Daenerys Targaryen in season two. Some of the garden scenes were filmed in the botanical gardens on Lokrum and in the Former Benedictine monastery.
