Description

Our day begins with an introduction to the city which gave birth to the Tango! We'll bring you to all of Buenos Aires' most famous highlights, including a drive along 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest avenue in the world! You'll pass the Colon Theatre, one of the world's best known opera houses and the cultural pride of the "porteños" (as the inhabitants of Buenos Aires are called).

Visit the famous Avenida de Mayo that runs into the Plaza De Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada (Government House), the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo (first City Hall, built during Spanish rule). At the other end of Avenida de Mayo the cupola of the Congress building can be seen. We'll make a stop to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Your next stop is La Boca, a colorful area with the famous street Caminito. Continue to the north area driving to Palermo, the green area of the city with its beautiful parks, the City Zoo, Botanical Garden, Argentine Horse Track and National Polo Fields. Palermo is also well known for its artificial lakes.

Before heading to the North Area of the city, it's time for a tasty break from sightseeing. Together we will not only taste Argentinian cuisine, but also embrace the local culture.

Learning the ups and downs of Argentine cooking is not just about the food. In this program, you will learn about the etiquette and traditions that hide behind the famous Creole empanada. All cultures have something similar to this small pie. Empanadas can be traced back to Spain, and each segment of Spanish society has their own version.

Here in Argentina, the tradition of empanadas is that it is a food to share. Any guest visiting friends will find that empanadas will be part of their visit. Each family will have its own story about how their personal recipe arrived to their kitchen.

Your class takes place in a well-known restaurant but during the lunch hour when they are closed. Enjoy a relaxing time in a cozy atmosphere, with Argentine music, local food, accompanying drinks and fine art works of many local artists.

Before returnign to the cruise pier, we'll bring you to one of the city’s most glamorous spots, the Recoleta area. Here you will see elegant boutiques and excellent restaurants, surrounded by centennial trees. The heart of the neighborhood is Recoleta cemetery, the most relevant personalities of Argentina’s history rest in this place. The mausoleums and pantheons reflect the architectural diversity emerging from the different cultural tendencies Argentina incorporated in its formation as a nation. The cemetery is considered to be one of the most impressive monuments of Argentina. Our visit will bring you to the grave of Eva Duarte, known as Eva Perón (Evita), the first female president of the country.

In Cozumel we enjoyed the snorkeling that we did off a catamaran. The staff was friendly, very professional, and helpful with my first time snorkeling daughter. Grand Cayman we went to sting ray city with a trip and snorkeling. Staff and trip was amazing, crew very helpful and fun. in Jamaica we did a Dunn's River Falls excursion and private beach. We had fun but were not impressed with the staff, and their timeliness (waited around alot),

MOSTLY EXCEPTIONAL

We did a private whale watching tour which was incredible. The train ride in Sitka which we were not going to do at first was spectacular. Scenery, comfort - a wonderful way to see the area and spend our time. We signed up for a Mendenhall Glacier trip plus Salmon bake. This one was so very commercial and although the glacier and waterfall were above our expectations, a short time was given to walk there and view. This left out two of our party as they could not move as fast as needed to return in the time frame of one hour. Then the BAKE- the food was marginally ok. They were out of the most important SMORES ingredients. It is crazy but that was advertised (we were willing to break our diets ) and we looked forward to them and then disappointed. The people were nice. the area was pretty but that one I would strongly advise friend not to sign up for.

Summer Hawaii Cruise

By: CGreene

Reviewed on: 17 Aug 2018

I arranged a church group of 55 for a Hawaiian cruise. This was our first time to use ShoreTrips and we had VIP treatment as compared to the mega busloads arriving from the ship/hotels excursions. Many times we had a site all to ourselves and then were leaving when the larger groups arrived. With all of the excitement about the active volcano, we weren't sure what to expect when we arrived on the Big Island. Those taking the helicopter ride raved about the experience and others were amazed to truly explore, taste and see that there is much more to her than only the volcanos. Every guide was lovely and professional, in fact, when I asked my group of to each submit 2 of their personal favorite photos, one was a guide on the last day in Honolulu for the private Pearl Harbor/airport excursion. It was nice to choose a selection of excursions for my group and ShoreTrips truly worked hard to make every trip come to fruition. Highly recommend all types of excursions with them.
