During this journey you will visit Grundarfjordur, Arnarstapi and Hellnar, all charming fishing villages. The town of Grundarfjordur is situated next to the famous Kirkjufell mountain. With its spectacular cascading waterfall, this mountain is one of the main draws of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Hellnar is an ancient fishing village with documents dating it back to 1560. The small town of Arnarstapi is quaint yet picturesque, and not to be underestimated.
At the beginning of this adventure, travel to Ljósufjöll a stoic volcano situated on the eastern part of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. After admiring this fissure vent system, stop and see Djúpalónssandur, an awe-inspiring black sand beach. The rock formations along the coast will make you feel as if you are on another planet.
After exploring Djúpalónssandur, stop and chill out at Snæfellsjökull, a volcano topped with a 700,000 year old glacier.
Then visit Ytri Tunga, a beach that is well-known for the seal colony that resides there. If you are lucky you will spot a few of these magnificent creatures!
Throughout this tour, your guide will tell you interesting stories and share local knowledge of the Snæfellsnes region, giving you an extensive insight into the area.
