Itinerary

DAY LOCATION(S) HOTEL MEALS DESCRIPTION
Day 1
Kalahari Desert, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Situated on an immense pan, Kalahari Plains Camp lies in a remote part of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR). Each en-suite canvas unit has a unique sleep-out deck from which to enjoy the spectacular night skies.

Arrival in camp with Wilderness Air plane is the most spectacular introduction to the desert.

Day 2
Kalahari Desert, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Your family will get to experience the traditional San Bushman culture in an authentic manner. Join them on an interpretative guided walk where children and adults learn about a different way of life and the harsh realities that face them.

The Kalahari Desert is known for its legendary black maned lions, one of the best cheetah densities in Africa, as well as unique and unusual creatures like honey badger, bat eared fox, jackal and brown hyena. As well as oryx, wildebeest and Springbok.

Day 3
Okavango Delta, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

First stop in Okavango Delta is Seba, arguably our children's best camp. Seba Camp has 8 raised and spacious tents each with en-suite bathroom and private deck. The two family units each sleep four or six respectively and have their own plunge pool,

Day 4
Okavango Delta, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Seba Camp is ideal for families; expert guides specialise in childrens activities, meaning that whatever the age and personal taste of the children, the kaleidoscopic spectrum of activities on offer is guaranteed to ensure the safari is enjoyed by all.

From tracking spoor around camp, making plaster casts, catch and release fishing, baking animal cookies with the chef to learning how to make traditional crafts, your family is sure to be entertained.

Family activities also include day and night game drives, nature walks, (depending on qualified guide availability) and mokoro rides in winter.

Day 5
Okavango Delta, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Sebas wildlife is extraordinary, with good sightings of lion, elephant and hippo pods, as well as seasonal hyena dens, leopard and the rare chance of seeing roan. Or if your family prefers, spend time in camp whiling away the hours next to the communal pool or swinging lazily while you read a book.

Day 6
Okavango Delta, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Your family journey now visits our premier camp, Vumbura Plains situated in the Northern Okavango Delta. The family unit has two large comfortable rooms joined by a walkway with an outdoor shower, private deck and a plunge pool.

Day 7
Okavango Delta, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Vumbura Plains offers both land and water activities, principally game viewing in varied habitats on open vehicles, mekoro and boats, providing an excellent all round experience.

This concession is leased from 5 villages through the Okavango Community Trust in a partnership that ensures that the benefits of eco tourism are shared with rural stakeholders.

Day 8
Okavango Delta, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Your family can take a short 20 minute helicopter ride to one of the local communities for a cultural experience. Here they will learn about a different tribe, meet the tribesmen, interact with the community and learn about a different way of life.

Another delight at Vumbura plains is a hot air balloon ride (April to mid October). This is the only place where this activity occurs in the Delta and the most magical way to experience this paradise.

Day 9
Linyanti, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Your last camp in this family journey is DumaTau. It lies on an exquisite site on the banks of the Linyanti River with easy access to the Linyanti swamps, Saviti channel and Linyanti woodlands.

Day 10
Linyanti, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

The tented units are raised off the ground to overlook the lagoon where enormous herds of elephant cross in the dry winter months. The main area includes a floating fire deck, with expansive dining and lounge areas with dramatic views of the river. Enjoy a sunset boat cruise (water levels permitting) on the Linyanti River, a serene way of ending the day.

Day 11
Linyanti, Botswana
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

DumaTau is a beautiful eco friendly camp set in one of the best game viewing areas of the Linyanti with good viewing of leopard and wild dog. To end this family journey, spend the night at our star bed which offers an authentic sleep out under African skies.

We specialise in creating memorable journeys in some of the most remote and pristine areas in Africa, whilst at the same time helping to ensure the future protection of Africa’s spectacular wildlife heritage and sharing the benefits of tourism with local communities.

At Wilderness Safaris, we believe in creating journeys, not holidays. A journey is an immersive experience, one that changes how you view the world in general and the wild places of Africa in particular.

Terms & Conditions

CONFIRMED BOOKINGS

Once a booking has been confirmed to us, we will change the booking’s status from “provisional” to “confirmed” on condition that you have secured the specified non-refundable deposit from your guests. The standard amount is 20% of the total land arrangement costs but this amount can vary depending on certain terms and conditions or party size. Please contact your journey specialist for details and please do NOT confirm a booking unless you have this non-refundable deposit, as you will become liable for cancellation fees if the booking does not materialize. In some parts of the world it has been customary for the guest to pay a nominal deposit for a holiday, with a small penalty if they cancel. Wilderness camps are relatively small making the fixed running costs and resultant break- even occupancies extremely sensitive. The cancellation of a mere two guests can put the camp into a loss situation and therefore we cannot accept bookings made with a nominal deposit, nor can we afford lenient cancellation terms. Please ensure that you have the required non-refundable deposit from your guests before a booking is confirmed with us. We urge you to review the booking conditions between your company and your guests. We believe that guests who are firmly committed to travelling and are covered by full travel insurance in the event that they cancel for insurable reasons e.g. medical problems, should have no problems in committing to this non-refundable deposit

PAYMENTS

Full payment from the guest is due eight weeks prior to arrival, after which our cancellation fees escalate in accordance with our cancellation policy.

CANCELLATIONS OF FIT BOOKINGS

Cancellation fees are levied when guests cancel confirmed reservations. The costs of the cancellation fees will escalate the closer the guests, cancels to their confirmed departure date. Our penalties escalate from forfeiting the deposit to payment in full as follows:

• If a cancellation is made more than 8 weeks before departure the non-refundable deposit is forfeited.

• If a cancellation is made between 4 weeks and 8 weeks, the deposit plus 25% of the price.

• If a guest cancels between 3 and 4 weeks prior to departure, 50% of the price.

• If a guest cancels between 2 and 3 weeks prior to departure, 60% of the price.

• If a guest cancels less than two weeks prior to departure, the 100% of the price.

Groups and Incentives have a different cancellation fee policy. This is available at time of quoting.

A wonderful trip that exceeds superlatives. The trip started in Cape Town SA where we visited the Kirstenboch botanical garden and wine country. Then for Safari to Namibia Rhino Camp and Skeleton Coast both run by Wilderness Safaris. Individual bungalows at both camps and at all others as well. Great camps. All along the way we were escorted from one connection to the next and it was wonderful. The second time I might (?) be able to do it myself. From Namibia to the Okavango delta in Botswana - one of the premier places in the world for wild life viewing. We stopped in two camps - Tubu Tree camp and Chobi. In Chobi we saw all wild life x2. Finally to Sabu little bush camp near Kruger SA - also wonderful. Food was out of this world. Starting in Namibia, mostly desert, and going to Botswana next was the right order. We will want to go back. We still have want to see the jungle and will use Michael.

We had a wonderful experience. It's not hard to deliver a great experience when you're seeing animals roaming free that tourists aren't used to, but it is special when your ranger, tracker, and the lodge go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable and comfortable time. Would highly recommend Tangala!

We spent an incredible week at two Wilderness camps in Botswana (Chitabe and Vumbura Plains). The knowledge of the outstanding guides ( Ebs and Chris) and the friendliness of the staff at both camps made the holiday very special. In the first 48 hours at Chitabe we were fortunate to see every animal we hoped to see ( and more)...lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinoceros, wild dogs, hyenas, hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, velvet monkeys, jackals, crocodiles, wildebeests, cape buffalo and numerous types of antelope and birds.

It was my first visit to Africa and to use Wilderness Safaris and I was very impressed with the company and their dedication to conservation. I traveled to Xigera, Savuti and Toka Leya and each camp offered a unique and unforgettable experience. The hospitality was incredible, everyone knows your name a treats you exceptionally well. The staff, guides and camp managers were professional, knowledgeable and grateful to have you as a guest. At each transfer I was met by a representative of Wilderness who guided me through the airport and to my transportation or on to the next camp. I highly recommend Wilderness Safaris and would use them again for future trips to Africa.
