Steve Kroschel’s Wildlife Center in Haines provides an opportunity to get close and personal with Alaskan wildlife. While most guests visit the center as part of a large-group tour, this is a rare opportunity for a private visit. Your private tour allows you and your family or group to spend quality time with Alaskan mammals such as wolf, lynx, wolverine, moose, porcupine, and a variety of other Alaskan species. These animals are extremely challenging to see in the wild, especially at close proximity. The tour begins with a scenic boat trip along the steep-walled fjords that connect Skagway to Haines. Bald eagles and harbor seals are often seen on this journey. Arrive in Haines and meet your knowledgeable and friendly local guide for a drive up the Haines Highway, declared a National Scenic Byway, and through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. On this exclusive tour you will have more flexibility in terms of how much time you spend with each species, and you won’t have to work your way around other guests for photography. You will spend at least one and a half hours at the Wildlife Center and enjoy a picnic lunch on your way back to Haines before boarding your fast ferry returning to Skagway.
Note: Minimum age to participate is 7 years of age, and guest weight information is required for the flight.
