An architectural jewel filled with treat-it delights the eyes and warms the heart. Here the population is glad to welcome you and to share its traditions, culture, art of cooking, and savoir-faire with its guests. The castle of Gruyères, one of Switzerland's historical monuments that attract the most visitors, boasts medieval treasures, paintings, gardens, and an exhibition of fantasy art along with all its mysteries. The whole region, home of the authentic Gruyère cheese, is also an area devoted to leisure and relaxation. After a private 2-hour guided tour with culinary tastings you will have 1 hourat leisure for a typical Swiss lunch before proceeding with your driver to Verbier, the most cosmopolitan holiday resort in Valais. Though our ship could not make it all of the way to Basil, their driver was able to find us as we make our way by taxi to the dock of Basil. (due to rain caused high water on the Rhine) Their service to Luzern and to Zurich was informative and punctual. It was expensive, however.

We loved our travel to Switzerland! Bucher was only given a month's notice of our vacation and they were able to plan a seamless trip. Every place we went exceeded our expectations and we had truly memorable outings. Both our kids said it was the best vacation they've ever taken. We really appreciated the hotels that Bucher selected for us, the luggage porter service, the figuring out of train schedules and pre-purchasing first class tickets, and the helpful comments about things to see and do in each of the locations. We highly recommend the Bucher team!

An outstanding trip and itinerary planned by seasoned experts!

By: Two Twenty-Something Travelers

With the help of Patty's Getaways & Bucher Travel Inc., my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in Switzerland. Our itinerary included everything we were seeking: adventure, luxury, action, beauty and authentic, local experiences. Our travel experts made sure we enjoyed the best seats on the trains we took so that we wouldn't miss a gorgeous view. They arranged efficient and reliable transportation. They hired excellent local guides to provide us with walking tours of the cities we visited. We had a sufficient amount of time in each city to enjoy a few highlights in each place, which included Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Montreux and Geneva. We also took day trips by train into the surrounding mountains. Our Switzerland adventures included wonderful food, gorgeous scenery, mountain hikes, walking tours, snow skiing, chocolate tasting and great hotel accommodations in fantastic locations. We're thankful we had experts arrange our itinerary so that we could enjoy smooth travels!

A Feast for Body and Soul

By: Nietzsche-Fan

Thanks to the expert arrangements of Grier Donald we were able to spend an unforgettable vacation in the Waldhaus in Seglia-Maria. Still family owned, this enchanted hotel in the Swiss Engadin has preserved the flair and charm of a bygone era, combining effortlessly past grandeur and individual room designs with modern bathrooms, and protected individuality (like personal greetings on arriving by Felix Dietrich) with guided tours, or flower arrangement courses. The dinner with the chef in the kitchen on Monday evening was a three hour/seven course delight with a guided tour of the remarkable wine cellar by sommelier Oscar - splendid indeed! Actually, all meals were haute cuisine! As a violinist I cherished the delicious tunes served by the Tamas trio with their Viennese and Hungarian salon music in the bar, great lounge, and open air terrace. We enjoyed the sauna and infinity swimming pool, a mountain tour, a trip to a glacier valley, and visiting the Nietzsche House. Got to try it!

Lucerne/Alsace

The tour to Lucerne was excellent. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We could not have been more pleased. Our trip to Alsace did not meet our expectations. The tour guide was good, but only had 1 day to prepare due to our late tour request. However, we booked the tour the same time we booked the Lucerne tour which was 2 months earlier. It appears there were some missed communications.

Our recent trip to Switzerland was very well planned and we had an easy time following the schedule laid out for us. The company is very thorough and the vacation was wonderful. We appreciated the suggestions and were not unhappy with any of our activities. As a matter of fact, I would recommend them wholeheartedly. The only observation we would have is that the hotel ratings didn't seem to be the same as the ratings we were used to in the US. The quality was very variable although all the places were clean and newly renovated and the staff were very accommodating.
