I'm not sure how much they helped with my trip. I did all the tour research and found all the "must do" things to do. Only used them to save $100 on the hotel room. They saved me a little bit on the hotel booking but their tours were really expensive versus just booking direct. Better deals online if you spend the time researching.

Tour guide ( Michael ) was accommodating and knowledgeable. We had a good tour of Hanoi; visited the Prison. Halong Bay was a natural and very interesting. Our "deluxe junk" ( no junk at all ) was a bit of a disappointment - no chairs, shelves /drawers - but a big spa bath tub ! Off to Saigon, Ruby was our guide, efficient but reticent with information. Deposited 2 hours early at My Tho Port to board the AMA Cruise.

Must see part of the world!

Had a truly great time seeing Hanoi and then spending two nights in Ha Long Bay on a terrific boat. In Hanoi we were picked up in a vintage Army surplus Jeep and treated to some of the local eateries where no tourist could find on their own. We traveled into the old part of the city and experienced some of best food and sights! The hotel was also amazing. Very comfortable and a breakfast that had three different stations. Wow! We then went to Ha Long Bay and spent three days/two nights seeing this amazing placed--named a Wonder of the World in 2011. We had an 80 foot boat to ourselves with seven crew members taking care of our every wish! W bought a huge fish as the fishing village and the crew cooked it to perfection for us. Amazing nights on the deck sipping white wine under the stars. Tour guides were incredible. Loved having the high customer service and care from the tour operators.

All Guides, Hotels, Vendors, etc. were fantastic!

We were really impressed with the accommodations and experiences that Trails provided. We had terrific guides that were knowledgeable and seemed to be as interested in us as we were with them and the places we visited. If there is a minor grumble, it is the night on the boat in Hanoi Bay. We don’t have an answer/solution, but there might be a better way to go about it than a 3+ hour ride to the boat, a short stay on the boat, and then a 3+ hour ride to the airport. It made it feel like the ‘forced march’ part of our trip. In addition, it would be nice if the delivering guide held on to your large suitcases while you are on the bay; the rooms are small! The Killing Field and S-21 are a tough pill, but it does give you a history that most Americans simply are under educated about. Overall, we highly recommend Trails and enjoyed our trip! -J*G

The people I worked with did a very good job. We loved the offering of their tour of Halong Bay. It was one of the highlights of our 16 day trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Their personal service of picking us up at the Hanoi Airport, walking us quickly through immigration and getting us to and from our hotels on arrival and departure contributed to our having an easy and comfortable trip. I highly recommend them.

Great tour guides who were very knowledgeable and informative. Drivers where good addition. Sites visited and activities arranged were perfect, especially Vespa night time street food tour, except for really strange water puppet theater. Although later was probably a Vietnamese iconic cultural event.

Bangkok and Chiang Mai

By: Ronit

Reviewed on: 17 Feb 2018

This was a good tour company, provided excellent guides, drivers, and lovely comfortable vans. We saw some wonderful sites and had some lovely experiences. We especially loved the elephant sanctuary, the cooking class near Chiang Mai, and the White Temple at Chiang Rai. Our only criticism was the 4 hour ride to the Golden Triangle on our last day. Not much to see there, we could have looked at pictures and saved several hours in the van. It was a big disappointment, and not worth the very long ride. (It took 5 hours to get back to our hotel) We would also have been happy to skip the visit to the tourist-trap at the Myanmar border, and the "traditional village", where we were accosted by the locals trying to sell us junk. We would not recommend this to anyone! The visit to Chiang Rai was lovely, and worth the two hour ride, but we wish our guide had given us a clue that the second part of the day was just a waste of time. Overall though, the rest of the trip was great!

Mixed bag

Reviewed on: 03 Mar 2018

It really WAS a mixed bag. Some of the printed info about tours was inaccurate or misleading. Communications were not always great. We were supposed to have 2 days in one destination, but ended up having significantly less. Had we known a bit earlier, we might have made some changes. But there was a lot of confusion and it really impacted what should have been a great time. A whole day was compressed in to a few hours, and we were really limited in what we could do.

Does a good job.

Trails of Indochina did an excellent job. One measure of a company is how they handle a problem. We had a problem with one of our guides due to lack of knowledge, poor English communication, and making us look for him for 45 minutes. Wanda handled the situation very well and we had an excellent replacement guide the next day. A well done to both Wanda and Trails of Indochina.

Vietnam River Cruise

By: Baz

Reviewed on: 25 Feb 2018

Our journey on the Angkor Pandaw was above expectations. The accommodation, food and service were excellent. It took a little while for us to get used to the rubbish in the river and the countryside and the extent of industrialisation along the river however it helped us to better understand the country. All the tours off the boat were interesting and enhanced by our guide. The only disappointment was after we left the boat for the return by bus to Hanoi. The stopover for lunch was a low quality tourist trap with poor quality food and service and was a "letdown" after our boat experience. All our fellow travellers were of the same opinion. It would have been better to have some boxed food from the boat to eat and toilet stop only.

Laos, Thailand and Bali with Trails

By: Liz

Reviewed on: 05 Mar 2018

Overall service was good, however northern Laos and Northern Thailand (in certain towns) had poor accommodations. There were a number of days that were a disappointment and should have been brought up by the operator at the planning stage that they don't recommend them for our type of travel especially since the accommdation was poor telling me there weren't many tourists coming through the area. A few of the larger city guides, Vientienne, Bangkok and Bali ( Seminyak) were exceptional and highly recommended.
