Duygu from Istanbul:
"Life is all about enjoying it. I love travelling, I love eating! These two give me the opportunity to learn new things; new people and new tastes. Sometimes new people bring new tastes; sometimes new tastes direct me to new people. I started with basic recipes following my mom and aunt, occasionally worked in my aunt’s restaurant when I was a child and as soon as I started travelling around the world my cooking journey continued. I collected recipes from all over the world, combined them with Turkish flavors and took one step up by taking semi-professional cooking courses at Usla (an international Hospitality Academy) in Istanbul, Turkey. At the moment I love to cook for my family and friends and now for you as well. At the same time, I work on my blog and try to include new recipes.
Appetizers: Turkish “meze” (so-called tapas) as appetizer. The meze is not fixed in advance, I prepare them on the event day as fresh and spontaneously. I always use fresh vegetables and fresh herbs to give flavor to them.
1) Eggplant balls but with Turkish cheese
2) Red bell peppers filled with special Turkish cheese and some sort of tomato paste which is totally homemade (by my mum). All tomatoes are collected in the summer period and my mum makes this special tomato sauce that gives a delicious flavors to various meals.
Main course (depends on guest choice):
Lamb stew served on mashed eggplant (so-called sultan’s delight)
Season fish baked together on season vegetables
Please let me know if you prefer fish or lamb
Tres Leches: This famous Mexican dessert is also common in Albanian kitchen and recently became very popular in Turkey. It is a milk based sponge cake with caramel sauce on top it. It is an addictive dessert with a Turkish touch.
Finally, at the end you will have real Turkish Coffee as digester.
Of course meanwhile, we do enjoy with some music, dance together and drink together.
We eat until we finish everything or we finish when we eat everything :)"
