Day 2
Évora, Portugal
Convento do Espinheiro, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Spa, Evora Breakfast

Get to know the 2000 year old city of Evora on a private guided tour, exploring the largest cathedral in Portugal and architectural wonders ranging from Gothic to Neoclassical. End the history-packed morning with a tasting of local wines in a former gothic water reservoir, now your hotel’s wine cellar. Once night falls, meet your astronomer guide for an evening of stargazing among the stunning dolmens, a megalithic landmark.

Day 3
Lisbon, Portugal
Pousada de Lisboa - Praca do Comercio Breakfast, Dinner
Meet your driver to transfer east to the Portuguese capital of Lisboa. After you’ve settled into your hotel, spend the evening getting to know the city through its food. Your local host will take you to fantastic bars and taverns to try petiscos, the Portuguese cousin of tapas, along with plenty of delicious wine or beer.
Day 4
Lisbon, Portugal
Pousada de Lisboa - Praca do Comercio Breakfast, Dinner

Explore glorious Lisboa with your guide, visiting the city’s old quarter, famous neighborhoods, the Castle of Saint Jorge and the Belem Tower. Cap off your introduction to Portugal’s crowning jewel with a traditional dinner and a fado performance. The dark, soulful music is representative of the nation’s complex, but beautiful, roots.

Day 5
Lisbon, Portugal
Sintra, Portugal
Cascais, Portugal
Estoril, Portugal
Pousada de Lisboa - Praca do Comercio Breakfast
This morning your driver will take you to magical Sintra, where you will tour the magnificent Palacio da Pena and rustic Convento dos Capuxos with your private guide. Next, head to Cascais, a former fishing town and, now, vacation destination for artists and European nobility, to enjoy the sea air and breathtaking views. Your day will come to an end with a stroll around charming Estoril before transferring back to Lisboa
Day 6
Tomar, Portugal
Fátima, Portugal
Peso Da Régua, Portugal
Six Senses Douro Valley Breakfast
Venture out of Lisboa to visit magical Tomar, one of Portugal’s most historic cities. Its Templar Castle and Christ Convent became the national headquarters of the Templar Knights in the middle ages, and later was at the forefront of the Order of Christ. Tomar also has a fascinating Jewish history, which you will explore with your guide along with the sanctuary of Fatima. After a traditional local lunch, head north to the Douro Valley to check into your gorgeous hotel.
Day 7
Peso Da Régua, Portugal
Six Senses Douro Valley Breakfast

Spend the day visiting two family-owned wineries where you will get a taste of the best of the region. The first winery provides stunning views over the valley, which you will enjoy during the wine tasting and wine-paired lunch on the terrace. Next, move onto the second winery where you have a full tour and wine tasting, and the emphasis on comfort and the spirit of family will make you feel right at home.

Day 8
Porto, Portugal
InterContinental Porto - Palacio das Cardosas Breakfast
Say goodbye to the Douro Valley as you move onto Portugal’s “second city,” Porto. Spend the day learning about Porto’s cultural treasures and history. You will visit the remarkable 13th century St. Francis Church, the Romanesque cathedral, the Neoclassical Stock Exchange and the striking Lello Bookstore, which served as the inspiration for Hogwarts’ design in JK Rowling’s “Harry Potter” books. In the evening, enjoy a glass of wine at your hotel overlooking the Douro river and glittering Porto.
Day 9
Porto, Portugal
InterContinental Porto - Palacio das Cardosas Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today you will get to know locals-only Porto on a lifestyle tour of the city with your host, a member of one of the most renowned families in the port wine world. She will take you to hidden gems all around the city, including sea-side spots and excellent cafés and restaurants. After you know Porto like the back of your hand, experience it from a different point of view: by boat. On your private cruise along the Douro you will indulge in a fabulous dinner with local wine, taking in views of the colorful city.

Made for Spain was wonderful!

Thank you for providing us with wonderful funny and smart guides and drivers. With the exception of the Bull Fight in Sevilla - our trip was just perfection! I especially loved our last driver from the Madrid airport to the Airport Hilton. I left my bag in the car with EVERYTHING important in that bag. I called the emergency number for MforS and they were on it right away. That precious man came driving back to give me my bag and all it's contents! LOVE that guy! thanks!

Very poor service

The tour guide did not speak English very well. When asked questions she would not answer what was asked. We soon came to realize that she did not understand enough English to understand our questions and then be able to answer. The driver and guide spent most of the time talking to each other in Spanish. We were to take a tour of the lake area but apparently a road they were to take was blocked. She then asked us what we wanted to do. As we had hired them to be our travel guide I would have hoped that they had a better idea of what to do or be prepared to offer something else when an itinerary needed to be changed. Very disappointed.

Their English was really good and they all had advanced degrees in the subjects they were telling us about. Very kind-no question is stupid-and great tips for the rest of our time in their city. All three guides were fabulous- Pablo, Virginia, and Carles. We have invited them all to visit us when they come to Chicago. The tours are always the highlights for us, as we learn so much about the history and culture of the places we are visiting for the first time. Our cooking class at MiT Cuisine was outstanding. Maria, Titiana and Rose were so welcoming and fun to be with. I hope I can do the chefs proud when I try to create our meal at home. We highly recommend this experience.

It's the little things in life that make me happy

By: Rob and Joan

We used Made for Spain for 3 days on a recent vacation to Madrid. Our three guides were extremely knowledgeable in everything from art to architecture and all things in-between. Our driver (Barouch) was extremely attentive and was an excellent compliment to our guides. But the little thing that made me extra happy was the way Made for Spain ushered us through Madrid International customs. All travelers are wary of airport customs. It can simply be a miserable experience. Not with Made for Spain. Their representative met us right as we got off the plane and took care of customs and retrieving our bags while we waited in a very comfortable lounge having a cocktail. It was the best airport experience ever. Then the real fun began. 3 days of touring Madrid with Made for Spain. We will certainly use Made for Spain (and Portugal) on future trips to the Iberian Peninsula.

We were very pleased with the service provided by Made for Spain during our trip in September. We worked with Clare Corrigan who helped up fine-tune our itinerary, arranged for private guides at six towns/cities - all excellent, transfers at airports/train stations - all professional and on time, recommended hotels throughout the journey - all wonderful, and booked our rental car, air, and train transportation in Spain. Made for Spain also provided a helpful information packet for each city on our itinerary with recommendations of restaurants, shopping, and sites to see. They were thorough and meticulous. The trip went as planned. We recommend their services highly.

We learned so much and saw so many amazing things I consider this the best trip my husband and I have ever taken. The hotels that were booked for us and the dinner and shopping recommendations were right on target. We truly have nothing but positive things to say about this company! Special shout-out to very memorable guides Javier and Pablo, as well as driver Mario and dinner host Veronica. Pick up at the Airport was easy but needed a larger vehicle for luggage. Our guide had to take a cab to the Hotel to drop off luggage and then off to The Hospital designed by Gaudis Professor. A must see! Piccasso Museum and our Guide was terrific, pleasant and spoke good English! Our Guide and driver to the Dali museum and Gerona was terrific! A guide is a must to the Dali museum or you would miss so many nuances of Dali! Lunch in Gerona and our guide was 7th generation Geronian. Beautiful City and must see! We had a Sunset Cruise in Barcelona but that was a downer! Spent 45 minutes trying to find the boat with no directions in the heat! Finally found the Captain who spoke very litttle English and the sunset sail was back and forth in front of the beach, Hotel. Nice sites but really didn't know what we were looking at and the language barrier was tough! All and all we had a wonderful time! Always a few hiccups!

We had a lot of fun exploring Lisbon with our two locals, and got to see a lot of things that most tourists would never find, including a fabulous winery where the owner Isabella treated us like family. Her Manor House, dating back to the early 1800s, on the property with it's own chapel and LOTS of antique furniture and mosaics throughout the house was amazing. Plus our guide and driver took us to some interesting places along the ocean including a small local restaurant with an amazing view and we were the only people there speaking English, so they ordered food and good Portuguese wine.

Very good. I used nine different guides during the trip and all of them were excellent. I had a long list of sites to cover in a very short time in many cities but it all ran very smoothly. We were able to cover everything on the list with time to spare. This was only possible because of the excellent planning by the guides. The choice of hotels were great - some of them just walking distance from the historical sites. I came back very satisfied with arrangements made by the tour operator.
