After having discovered those unique monuments on the Acropolis, as well as the incredible views to the city from there, the visitors will go down and have a closer look at what they had been admiring from up above. The tour continues with a drive through the city of Athens, during which the visitor enjoys seeing: The Panathenaic stadium (no entrance/only from outside), where the first Olympics of Modern times took place in 1896; The Presidential palace, guarded by the Evzones, the soldiers of the National traditional guard, wearing their famous costume; The majestic Temple of Zeus, and Hadrian’s Gate; Syntagma (Constitution) square, the cosmopolitan centre of Athens, crowned by the Parliament and the Tomb of the unknown soldier; The three neoclassical buildings: The Academy of Fine arts and Sciences, the University of Athens, and the National Library.
The tour will continue with a choice of the following sites:
*The Museum of Cycladic Art. Dedicated to the study and promotion of ancient cultures of the Aegean and Cyprus, with special emphasis on Cycladic Art of the 3rd millennium BC.
• The Ancient Agora. The centre of political, social and commercial life in ancient Athens, birthplace of democracy and Socrates area of teaching.
• The Temple of Olympian Zeus. The largest temple in Greece, which in the Roman times could boast 104 columns, today offers a unique experience and really beautiful views.
Depending on the chosen visited museum clients might have time to stroll through Plaka area also.
