Milazzo or Taormina to Vulcano
Departure from Milazzo or Taormina and embark to the beautiful island of Vulcano with your private yacht.
Vulcano is the first island you meet coming from Milazzo, just 12 miles away. Near the port you are struck, both by the beauty of the place, and by the acrid smell of sulphur which fills the air. This phenomenon, which you soon get used to, is due to the ‘fumaroles’, the venting of steam, sulphur and carbon dioxide at a high temperature from the crater or from cracks in the ground. The fumaroles are a reminder that the volcano is still active. The island takes its name from the considerable volcanic activity that has taken place over thousands of years. Along with Stromboli, it is the only volcano still active in the archipelago, and the youngest (90,000 years compared with the 100,000 years of Stromboli). Vulcano is an island of wilderness: the clear waters of the sea, hot springs and mud where fumaroles vent and spew sulfur dioxide, black sand, and a center for health and beauty. During the daily excursion you will discover some of the most beautiful beaches of the island like Gelso Beach, dominated by a very evocative lighthouse. After this first stop you will reach the famous Spiaggia dell’asino. A spectacular cove of black sand on a volcanic island and crystalline water of a pristine sea. Black soil and the faraway fire of volcanoes, producing quiet hissing sounds.
A beach that you can’t miss are the “Piscinedi Venus”,The cove Mastro Minico &Cala del Formaggio
Breathtaking unfrequented beaches, divided by lava promontories which stick out into the sea.
After the daily excursion you will reach at sunset at the Port of Lipari, head quartier during your stay. Enjoy the evening at leisure on the island.
