Description

The Angas and Henschke families have been friends and neighbours since the early years of European settlement in South Australia. With a combined heritage of over 350 years, this tour provides a rare opportunity to learn about their combined heritage – along with sampling some of the Barossa Valley’s best food and wine.

The tour will begin with a 9:00am pick-up from your Adelaide CBD accommodation, where you will be greeted by your private local guide. Your guide will then begin the drive up through the picturesque South Australian countryside until you reach Hutton Vale Farm.

On arrival to Hutton Vale, you will be greeted and then chauffeured over to the Henschke Wines cellar door where the VIP tour manager will take you on a private tour of Henschke’s flagship vineyard, and then followed by a private tasting of Henschke’s flagship wines. Recognised for the rich heritage and commitment to handcrafting outstanding wines for more than 145 years, Henschke Wines boast a tradition spanning six generations.

After your experience at Henschke has come to an end, you will be chauffeured the short distance back to Hutton Vale Farm where a tour of the property is next on today’s agenda. When guests visit Hutton Vale Farm they are rewarded with the opportunity to experiences the rhythm of country life first-hand and will always be guaranteed to receive truly authentic Barossa hospitality.

The 200-acre, seventh generation farm is known to produce a variety of wares – including wool, wine, artisanal food products, free-range lamb, suck chicken and pork. With custodianship of the land dating back to an original estate created by George Fife Angas (1789-1879), this incredible property has numerous stories to be shared with you.

Following your tour of the farm, an incredible farmhouse lunch – created by Jan Angas herself – will be waiting for you. Showcasing fresh produce straight from the farm and from locally sourced artisan makers, Jan understands how best to prepare the magnificent flavours of the Barossa.

After lunch it will be time to return to Adelaide and your private driver will take the scenic route back to your accommodation – arriving at approximately 5:00pm.
