We'll take a look at artificial Lake Las Vegas with its residential developments and fly over the very impressive Hoover Dam. In the early 20th century, the dam was designed to provide water and hydro-electric power to the rapidly expanding southwest. We'll also see Lake Mead, the reservoir created by the Hoover Dam. Lake Mead is one of the largest man-made lakes in the Western Hemisphere and is a popular recreational destination for swimming, boating and fishing. Just northeast of Hoover Dam we'll fly over Fortification Hill, an extinct volcano.
We've almost reached the Grand Canyon, that most magnificent spectacle, created over millions of years by the mighty Colorado River. It's hard to believe how immense, colorful and simply beautiful it really is. But we're not just flying OVER the canyon, we're flying INTO the canyon.
Soon your helicopter descends 3,500 feet and gently sets down on Hualapai Indian Territory. Here you and your fellow travelers will disembark and raise a glass of champagne to celebrate this special moment. Also enjoy a continental breakfast or light snack, depending on the time of your tour.
As we head back to the city, we'll see the Bowl of Fire, a brightly colored red, orange and pink rock formation composed of Aztec sandstone. Flying over downtown, we begin to glimpse the bright lights of The Strip, calling us back to the energy and excitement of Las Vegas.
