A drive through Little Havana will give you a taste of Cuba's culture and customs without leaving home. See the large, brightly colored roosters on Calle Ocho. Sway to the sounds of salsa and meringue emanating from passing car windows. Watch older residents playing dominoes at Maximo Gomez Park and stop for a Cafe con leche or Cuban coffee at a local shop. Encantador!
Leaving the city behind, we head to the ecological wonder that is the Everglades. The biodiversity within this subtropical wetland includes several millions of acres of sawgrass, mangroves and Pinelands, and provides habitats for thousands of plant, animal and bird species. Its ecological significance to Florida and the southeastern United States cannot be overstated.
We will take a closer look at this fascinating environment with a one hour air boat tour. Your guide is a Native American, whose family is deeply connected to this place. You'll hear about the Everglade's earliest inhabitants and how this land formed their history and culture. The alligators and birds you will see are "real". No cages, no pens. Just wildlife in their natural habitat.
As part of the ride, we will visit an historic and culturally significant Miccosukee Indian village that is only accessible by air boat. You will be fascinated by their special customs, history and way of life.
You will leave this tour with a better appreciation of Miami and the surrounding area.
