Depart from the cruise ship pier in San Antonio and travel towards the southern side of Valparaiso. View the old funicular railway as you drive up a hillside for a most spectacular view of the bay, Valparaiso's downtown district, and its adjoining hills. Next, pass by the main square where you will view the monument honoring the Pacific naval battle fought in 1879.
Now proceed to the lower level of the city through the commercial heart of the port, where you will take the coastal highway that links Valparaíso with the resort city of Viña del Mar.
Upon entering Viña del Mar, you will see the resort's famous landmark--the floral clock. On a steep cliff above is the Cerro Castillo, the summer residence of the Presidents of Chile. Make a brief stop to admire the exterior of the impressive casino, built in the 1930s and set in beautiful gardens. You will also visit the Fonck Museum, where you will be able to view an extensive and interesting collection of pre-Columbian artifacts from Easter Island and the Chilean mainland, including a fine exhibit of Mapuche native silver.
At the end of the day, we will pass through Casablanca Valley on our way to either your Santiago Hotel or the Airport.
