DAY LOCATION(S) HOTEL MEALS DESCRIPTION
Day 1
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort Dinner

Upon arriving at Siem Reap Airport, be welcomed by a local English-speaking guide and transfer to the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort for check-in.

Enjoy some time relaxing at the hotel or explore the town of Siem Reap to get a feel for the Cambodian way of life.

In the afternoon, depart on a sightseeing tour of the famous Angkor Wat by car. Angkor Wat was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century and it was modeled after the temple mountain symbolising Mount Meru, the mythical mountain of gods. Inside the temple, the walls are covered with stone carvings and bas-reliefs depicting Hindu mythology and the wars Suryavarman II fought during his reign. It is also decorated with over 2,000 dancing figures, animals and devatas (deity).

Construction is thought to have taken around thirty years; today, the Angkor Wat is part of Cambodia’s national flag as it represents the soul of the Khmer people.

An authentic Khmer welcome dinner will be served at Chanrey Tree.

Day 2
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort Breakfast, Dinner

This morning, play golf at Sofitel’s luxurious Phokeethra Country Club. This world-class golf course features 18 holes that make for a challenging game. After playing, return to the hotel to relax.

This afternoon, explore the temples of the Angkor Small Circuit by tuk-tuk. Start with the most well-known temple of all, Ta Prohm which was built in the mid-12th to early 13th centuries. Ta Prohm is a unique temple covered by jungle trees and vines with most of its parts crumbling to the ground. This was also where the Hollywood movie ‘Tomb Raider Temple’ was filmed.

Continue to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII. This city is surrounded by an 8-meter high wall with an impressive stone gate carved with elephants and four giant faces. On each side of the entrance is a row of gods and demons having a tug-of-war with the sacred Naga snake.

From here, continue to Bayon Temple which stands at the centre of Angkor Thom. This 12th century masterpiece features 54 towers with enigmatic faces representing the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. The Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King are also must-see sites in the city.

This evening, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at the Square 24 Restaurant in Siem Reap.

Fantastic Service Provided

Ben could not have been more helpful when helping me plan a 4-day trip to Saigon. While I wish we could have spent less time in HCMC, family restrictions necessitated the longer stay, but Ben put together an itinerary that was absolutely perfect. Ben also spent a great amount of time finding us the best deal, which was completely above-and-beyond my expectations. Perhaps Ben's biggest asset is his communication skills, with a response time that is nothing short of fantastic, and an admirable level of patience to answer my annoying and nit-picky questions. Ben blew us away with all elements of the work he did for us, and I can't wait for our next trip planned by him (which we've already booked!). He is truly ahead of the pack.

It was a very big challenge to arrive in Siem Reap all by myself. I was a bit scared, but relieved when the person from A&K took me to the counter to get my visa. My luggage was lost and he took care of everything. When I arrived at the BEAUTIFUL resort, I was welcomed by a great staff that made me feel protected and safe. It was geat.

Our guide, Cha-Cha, spoke impeccable English, was extremely attentive to our every need, even ones we did not know about! He knew the timing of other large tours and worked around them, still seeing everything we wanted to see. The air conditioned van was a very pleasant respite between temple visits, allowing us to cool down before embarking on another walkabout.
