Upon arrival at the river, you will be fitted with a helmet, safety vest and wetsuit and will receive thorough rafting instructions by your very experienced guide. This trip is suitable for novice and experienced rafters alike, and your instructors have been guiding people through these waters safely for many years.
Now it's time to climb in the raft to begin this exhilarating journey. For the next 50 minutes or so, prepare to have the time of your life as you drop down waterfalls, ride through rushing rapids, and paddle through the calm stretches.
Time for a bit of a break as your guide informs you about the fascinating history of this area. Then get ready for the biggest thrill of all, Tutea Falls. At almost 23 feet high, this falls is the world's highest commercially rafted waterfall. But don't be afraid. Your guide has brought many people through this experience without incident. Once it's over, take a look back at where you've been and be amazed and proud of what you have accomplished.
Rafting the Kaituna can work up quite an appetite so we will stop at a local cafe for a well-earned lunch (not included in the price). Relax and enjoy a tour of the Rotorua area before you head back to your cruise ship to relate to all on board the details of your day's adventure.
