Description

Akureyri is a very picturesque town with its location by a scenic fjord, eclectic building styles and streets winding their way through gorges. And by Icelandic standards, Akureyri is judged picturesque but one may question whether it is a tourist destination in its own right. Tourists to Iceland typically come because of the splendid scenery, not because of the cities. Akureyri is primarily a local hub, a place to start excursions to more interesting places and there are many in the area.

The beauty of Arureyri's nature is evident as you approach. It is a lovely town surrounded by the most incredible terrain full of wild nature aching to be explored. On this excursion you will have a lot of firsts. You will be driving the only Suzukis in the wild. Following your guide, you will have a chance to cross a river, handle a gravity path and explore the hills and valleys, all with professionals who love their city and their jobs.

Part of your day will include your Icelandic off roading adventure, but you will also have a chance to enjoy a little hiking at the bottom of the valley of Eyjafjörður. Find yourself in the midst of mountains and a meandering river with time to take it all in, especially the fresh air. A short hiking trail is there to enjoy. Coffee is a major ingredient for life in Iceland and coffee is part of your experience. Relax and take it all in.

Enough of nature, it's time for culture! You will drive through some of the small communities in this region such as Árskógssandur, which sits on the banks of the Eyjafjörður fiord. As you travel, you can practice saying the names of the villages, a challenge that could be a fun game.

You'll most likely slur your words once you leave this next stop, a brewery, Bruggsmidjan Kaldi, which was founded in 2006 by 2 passionate people that recognized an opportunity. No worries, you have concluded your driving, so taste away.

With proper research and due diligence, these two folks created a business that is thriving in both good and bad times. Using Icelandic water that comes from a mountain called Sólarfjall and ingredients from the Czech Republic, Kaldi was born. The outcome is an Icelandic beer, brewed by a century-old Czech method, unpasteurized, without preservatives and added sugar.

Enjoy a fully guided brewery tour, personalized and energized by staff who are proud of their product. Then it's time to beer spa! When taking a beer bath, you bathe in a big tub filled with beer, water, hops, and yeast. After 25 minutes, we suggest a stop in the relaxation room for another 25 minutes.

A short drive away is Akureyri, where you will have free time to explore the street life here.

In Cozumel we enjoyed the snorkeling that we did off a catamaran. The staff was friendly, very professional, and helpful with my first time snorkeling daughter. Grand Cayman we went to sting ray city with a trip and snorkeling. Staff and trip was amazing, crew very helpful and fun. in Jamaica we did a Dunn's River Falls excursion and private beach. We had fun but were not impressed with the staff, and their timeliness (waited around alot),
