This adventure begins with a stunning ride of about 1.5 hours through terrain you are not used to seeing. Desolate space is interspersed with small communities. Panoramic scenery and the rawness of nature are everywhere. Once you arrive, your guide will introduce you to the geological activities here that have delivered rich soil and much tourism. You will see how folks still live nearby, just at the edge of where the eruptions flowed and ended. Your imagination will think about their experience watching the unstoppable flames and smoke while they wondered if their homes would be devoured.
Walking on the lava is tricky so good shoes are essential. Your guide is so familiar with the area that any question you can think of will be answered.
As you head back to the starting point, a stop at the famous Goðafoss Waterfall will be included. The Goðafoss is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. The river has its origin deep in the Icelandic highland and runs from the highland through the Bárðardalur valley, all the way from Sprengisandur in the Highlands. The rock formations in and around the waterfall make it one of the greatest natural wonders in Iceland.
This perfect combination will go home with you and your memory of Iceland will be far better than you imagined.
