From here you will enjoy a walk through the Knights, Jews, and Canons Districts to admire the precious Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque monuments of Segovia. At the end of your walk through Segovia you will visit the Alcazar, a perfectly-restored fortified castle from the Middle Ages. You will be transported next to the impressive Granja Palace and its glorious gardens, which were executed by order of Phillip V, the first Bourbon King of Spain.
Next on to Avila, that is still guarded by its massive Medieval City Walls, now considered to be a National Monument of Spain. From paths along the Walls you will experience a wonderful view of the valley of Avila. Walking through the area you will encounter such things as the Santa Teresa Convent, the Palace of Nuñez Vela, the Convent of San Jose, and Monasterio de Encarnación.
This historical journey will surely prove to be a thoroughly enriching day out from Madrid.
