Upon your arrival into the Swettehham Penang port, you will meet your guide and together experience a traditional funicular train ride to the Goddess of Mercy Statue from Kek Lok Si Temple. This Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam in Penang faces the sea and commands an impressive view and is one of the best known temples on the island. It is said to be the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. Here you will have a tortoise encounter at the pond, which holds hundreds of tortoises.
Follow this experience with a visit to the cool hill, simply named Penang Hill, which sits about 2750 feet above sea level and is the oldest hill resort in the country. It is known for its cool, unpolluted air and historical significance. You will take a funicular train which dates back to 1923, and has since been upgraded, to bring you to the top. The train ride is an experience in itself, coupled by colorful flora you’ll see as Penang Hill sits above the very forested and hilly lowlands which creates a beautiful background.
