As you work your way through the island and its downtown, you can stroll down Front Street and feel as if you have entered the past. Excellent displays and exhibits can be seen in the Turks & Caicos National Museum, as well as the famous Lighthouse, a great place to hang out and where you may want to attempt to feed stray donkeys. The Salt House museum is a new building constructed in the colonial style. There's an exhibit on Bermuda Sloops, the typical ship used in the salt industry. Interestingly, Bermuda Sloops were made of cedar, as oak would deteriorate within about 12 years due to the salty environment. The Salt House is located right on the edge of the Town Salina, and you can walk along the salt canals to see a working replica of a windmill.
All in all, it will be both your guide and the stops that make this a worthwhile experience.
