Villa Lapas is perfectly situated between the tropical and dry eco-systems of Costa Rica. Through the use of the Skyway bridge system you will explore the habitat with the hopes of spotting the diverse animals that make up this region; monkeys, anteaters, lizards and dart frogs just to name a few. Every walkway and bridge was built with the intentions of handling guests so don't worry about having to fly through the forest like the monkeys have to!
From the jungle you will head to the Saint Lucia village which is a quaint replica of a Spanish settlement during the colonization. Situated right next to a crystal clear river you will have the chance to explore some shops for a potential souvenir to bring back home or simply grab some tea and fresh fruit. From here you board a river boat for a one hour cruise along the stunning Tarcoles river. This river is home to one of the largest crocodile populations in the world so make sure you keep your hands clear from the water! You are bound to see some along the way.
After making a stop for lunch you will arrive in the city of Puntarenas, which means "sandy point" in Spanish. To this day, it's still used as a commerical fishing port, so it's not hard to find fresh seafood like shrimp, lobster, and fish. We'll visit Paseo de los Turistas, a tree-lined promenade adjacent to the beach. People from all over enjoy the popular restaurants, discos, cafes, bars, and hotels that are found here. Aside from the new, there are lots of lovely old, unusual buildings all over the city.
