Additionally, the chilly, crystal blue waters of the Golfo Nuevo are inhabited by one of the most fascinating creatures on earth--the baleen whale. These whales come here between May and December to mate and give birth. Because the water in the gulf is quieter and warmer than in the open sea, the whales repeat this age-old process year after year. If you are lucky, you may spot an Orca, which can be found off the coast in the open sea off the peninsula.
