Description

Your journey through time begins with a pleasant drive along the Aegean Coast. Soon, the hills broaden into a wide plain and Ephesus can be seen in the distance. At one time, the city was the gateway to Asia Minor and boasted a population of 250,000. Formerly a seaport, it now lies several miles inland due to deposits of river silt that have collected over the centuries. The region is steeped in history. Visit the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World). You'll also be able to view the Basilica of St. John and the 12th century Isa Bey Mosque.

Enter ancient Ephesus, one of the most magnificent and best-preserved ancient sites in the world, through the Magnesia Gate. As you walk along the old marble streets, you'll pass the Odeon and Upper Agora. You'll also see the ornate Hadrian Temple, the remains of some Terrace houses, the beautifully restored façade of the Celsus Library, the Thermal Baths of Scholastica, the Commercial Agora, and the Theatre, which accommodates 15,000 spectators and is still used for occasional performances. Continue along the colonnaded harbor boulevard on your way out, passing the gymnasium and the remains of the stadium as you head toward the exit gate.

Now, you'll re-board your vehicle for the short drive to picturesque Çamlik Village, where you'll relax and enjoy a tasty barbecue lunch amid a pristine pine forest. After lunch, enjoy a presentation about Turkish weavings, and see the girls at the looms knotting carpets and kilims. Learn about the natural dyes and the differences between silk, flosh, wool, and cotton weavings for handmade rugs.

Afterwards, drive to Kirazli Village, experiencing en route the varied tones of green on the valleys and spectacular view of Kusadasi gulf from the high mountains. This countryside is reputed for its immense agricultural lands, including cotton, grains, and olive crops.

In Kirazli village you'll experience the perfect synthesis of Turkish culture and world-famous Turkish hospitality. Stroll through the streets, see the old-fashioned stone-and-stucco houses, interact with friendly and hospitable villagers, and walk among the nearby hillside vineyards and orchards. Afterwards, gather and enjoy Turkish tea and the local crepes, called "gozleme."

In Cozumel we enjoyed the snorkeling that we did off a catamaran. The staff was friendly, very professional, and helpful with my first time snorkeling daughter. Grand Cayman we went to sting ray city with a trip and snorkeling. Staff and trip was amazing, crew very helpful and fun. in Jamaica we did a Dunn's River Falls excursion and private beach. We had fun but were not impressed with the staff, and their timeliness (waited around alot),

MOSTLY EXCEPTIONAL

We did a private whale watching tour which was incredible. The train ride in Sitka which we were not going to do at first was spectacular. Scenery, comfort - a wonderful way to see the area and spend our time. We signed up for a Mendenhall Glacier trip plus Salmon bake. This one was so very commercial and although the glacier and waterfall were above our expectations, a short time was given to walk there and view. This left out two of our party as they could not move as fast as needed to return in the time frame of one hour. Then the BAKE- the food was marginally ok. They were out of the most important SMORES ingredients. It is crazy but that was advertised (we were willing to break our diets ) and we looked forward to them and then disappointed. The people were nice. the area was pretty but that one I would strongly advise friend not to sign up for.

Summer Hawaii Cruise

By: CGreene

Reviewed on: 17 Aug 2018

I arranged a church group of 55 for a Hawaiian cruise. This was our first time to use ShoreTrips and we had VIP treatment as compared to the mega busloads arriving from the ship/hotels excursions. Many times we had a site all to ourselves and then were leaving when the larger groups arrived. With all of the excitement about the active volcano, we weren't sure what to expect when we arrived on the Big Island. Those taking the helicopter ride raved about the experience and others were amazed to truly explore, taste and see that there is much more to her than only the volcanos. Every guide was lovely and professional, in fact, when I asked my group of to each submit 2 of their personal favorite photos, one was a guide on the last day in Honolulu for the private Pearl Harbor/airport excursion. It was nice to choose a selection of excursions for my group and ShoreTrips truly worked hard to make every trip come to fruition. Highly recommend all types of excursions with them.
