This guided tour offers a general overview of the prestigious collections housed by the Army Museum. This tour will begin with the presentation of historical facts about Hôtel national des Invalides, which has been housing the Museum since 1905. Your guide will introduce you to many treasures of the Army Museum: armor that belonged to French kings, paintings from the 17th century…
The second part of the guided tour will take place at the Empire rooms where you will discover symbolic objects of the Napoleonic epic, from famous portraits like that of Napoleon I painted by Ingres to personal objects that belonged to the Emperor (his two-horned hat, his redingote, his camp tent…) or to his marshals.
Finally, your guide will lead you to the Dome Church, which has been housing the monumental Napoleon’s tomb since 1861. You will also discover the graves of other well-known soldiers: Turenne, Foch, and Vauban… A guided tour into the heart of France’s military history.
