We’re passionate about local markets and have put our heads together to organize this special tour of the best in Cape Town. These spectacular walks will be held on Saturdays and will give you a unique opportunity to travel to different parts of the city. You will be able to sample delicious, freshly-prepared South African cuisine and see a huge variety of local products, arts and crafts from local artisans.
What to expect
You will be picked you up from your hotel, and head straight to the first stop - the famous market on Greenmarket Square, located in the heart of Cape Town. A historic spot, this was formerly a slave trading post during colonial times, then a fruit and vegetable market and now offers a wide selection of African souvenirs, crafts and curios. While you browse you’ll be kept entertained by street musicians, mimes and jugglers.
The next stop is Woodstock and the Old Biscuit Mill market. Here you will have time to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine or cider, relax and take in the sounds, sights and smells of this quirky, cool market. There’s no shortage of food options here, including two trendy restaurants: The Test Kitchen and The Pot Luck Club. This market also features arts, crafts, fashion and design shops.
The next stop is the beautiful Hout Bay to visit the The Bay Harbour Market, a place where the creative energy and dynamism of South Africa come alive. This market attracts people of all ages and cultures with its festive spirit. Wonderful works of art, clothing and African crafts are accompanied by the delicious flavors of freshly-made South African cuisine.
The tour ends in the famous Cape Quarter, a myriad of streets focusing on design and style in the suburb of Green Point. An ideal spot for shopping and the perfect time to relax and enjoy one of the many restaurants and cafes.
